"Bolivian general sought for questioning" by Associated Press | March 20, 2010
LA PAZ, Bolivia — The retired general who captured legendary revolutionary Ernesto “Che’’ Guevara was summoned yesterday by Bolivian authorities investigating an alleged plot against President Evo Morales.
Former general Gary Prado is accused of exchanging “ultrasecret’’ encrypted e-mail with Eduardo Rozsa, a Bolivian-born Hungarian who was slain in an April 2009 raid by an elite police unit. Authorities say that Rozsa and two other men killed were involved in a conspiracy to create a separatist right-wing militia in the eastern, opposition-dominated state of Santa Cruz.

Morales said when they were killed that a plot to assassinate him had been foiled. Prado denied yesterday that he had anything to do with an antigovernment conspiracy and said he would refuse to travel to La Paz for questioning. Also summoned was Prado’s son, who carries the same name and is running for mayor of Santa Cruz.

Bolivians will elect mayors and governors across the country April 4, when Morales hopes to consolidate power with gains in the eastern lowlands.
Globe never got back to us on those elections, which is strange because they care so much about politics and elections.
Wealthy ranchers and agro-businessmen in the east oppose Morales’s policy of seizing fallow lands and giving them to poor peasants from Bolivia’s long-suppressed indigenous majority.
Yes, those rich ranchers are OUR GUYS, America.
And you sure can see why Morales is so popular, huh?
Prosecutor Marcelo Soza did not say whether authorities had been able to decrypt the e-mails he said were exchanged by the elder Prado and Rozsa, a journalist-adventurer who fought for Croatia after Yugoslavia dissolved.
