The Streets of Jerusalem

Taking it to them....

"Israel deployed hundreds of security forces around Jerusalem’s Old City, the scene of clashes with Palestinian protesters in recent days.

Yes, how little we read or see those protests here in AmeriKa.

JERUSALEM — Hundreds of Palestinians in East Jerusalem set tires and garbage bins ablaze yesterday and hurled rocks at Israeli riot police, who responded with rubber bullets and tear gas. The heaviest clashes in months broke out as a US envoy abruptly canceled a visit, deepening a diplomatic feud.

The violence spread from Arab neighborhood to Arab neighborhood across the eastern side of the volatile city. Angered by plans for more Jewish housing in predominantly Arab East Jerusalem and unsubstantiated rumors surrounding the rededication of an Old City synagogue, Palestinians clashed with Israeli forces throughout the day....

Then they must be true if the Zionist paper describes them that way.

Thousands of police, including anti-riot units armed with assault rifles, stun grenades, and batons, were deployed across East Jerusalem in anticipation of the unrest.

Palestinian medics said 10 people were seriously wounded, five from rubber bullets. Israeli police said 15 security men suffered light wounds, including one man wounded by gunfire. About 60 protesters were arrested.

“They are donkeys and dwarfs!’’ a woman screamed as riot police and plainclothes security men hauled away a handcuffed, hooded youth. Police pinned the youth to the ground, setting muzzled Doberman pinschers near them as the young man shrieked in panic.

That is TORTURE, sorry, Iz-ray-HELL!!!

And ONCE AGAIN it is STICKS and STONES against MASSIVE MILITARY HARDWARE!

Palestinian merchants in East Jerusalem shuttered their stores in solidarity with the protests, and Palestinian schools in the city were closed....

Interior Minister Eli Yishai, in an interview with the Associated Press, said he hoped the tensions with the Palestinians ease. “The riots are not appropriate. There are people who are interested in provoking unrest and inflaming the region,’’ he said....

Remember, every time Israel accuses someone of something they are the ones guilty of the conduct. It's what we call a truism.

The feud is feeding already high tension in East Jerusalem.

Palestinian officials had called on the public to defend Muslim religious interests in Jerusalem after the rededication Monday of a historic synagogue in the Jewish quarter of the Old City. The rededication has stoked rumors that Jewish extremists are planning to take over the hilltop shrine at the crux of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict....

Yeah, and they have NOT BEEN SHY about their plans for anyone who has cared to take even a token interest in the region!

They want to REBUILD the ALLEGED JEWISH TEMPLE no matter what!

Israel annexed East Jerusalem after capturing it from Jordan in the 1967 Mideast war. But the international community does not recognize the annexation and considers the Jewish neighborhoods in East Jerusalem illegal settlements.

Yeah, but somehow the U.N. is MIA on that one.

Some 180,000 Jews now live in a ring of Israeli neighborhoods in East Jerusalem, alongside 250,000 Palestinians in Arab neighborhoods....

So you can't separate them now, right?

Might as well just make it part of Israel, huh?

"Israel lifts extended closure of West Bank as tensions calm; No new clashes are reported in Jerusalem" by Amy Teibel, Associated Press | March 18, 2010

JERUSALEM — Israel yesterday lifted its tight restrictions on Palestinian access to Jerusalem’s holiest shrine....

Isn't Israel wonderful?

Despite moving to end the lockdown, Israel kept thousands of police officers on alert as an uneasy calm settled over the holy city....

Oh, that is why the AmeriKan newspaper likes the endless array of qualifiers that my college writing instructor told me were bad words for a report.

There were no reports of new clashes in Jerusalem....

The recent protests have been fueled by the plans for more Jewish housing in East Jerusalem and unsubstantiated rumors that Jewish extremists are planning to seize Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem, Islam’s third-holiest shrine.

That is as good as a confirmation considering the source.

You know, anyone who knows anything about the Zionist zealots over there knows that is their goal come hell or high water.

East Jerusalem, which saw the heaviest clashes in months after similar rumors surfaced earlier this week, was quiet yesterday. The Israelis said the decision to end the lockdown was based on intelligence reports....

Makes you wonder WHO PUT OUT the "rumors" and why, cui bono?

WHO BENEFITS from a LOCKDOWN and FURTHERING of the ZIONIST POLICE STATE (especially if they plan to seize Jerusalem and rebuild their temple)?

The hilltop where Al-Aqsa stands is also Judaism’s holiest site, the Temple Mount, where the biblical Jewish temples stood.

Sadly, I'm beginning to doubt the Jewish temples were ever there, and if they were, too bad. It's Al-Aqsa now.

Maybe if the Zionist had not lied for so long I would feel differently.

The conflicting claims make the future of the holy city the most charged issue in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Israel captured East Jerusalem in the 1967 Mideast war and immediately annexed the area. The Palestinians claim East Jerusalem as their capital.

The United States, which has been working for more than a year to get both sides negotiating again, has harshly criticized the latest Israeli construction plan. Israel maintains that its annexation of East Jerusalem after capturing it in 1967 entitles it to build there, but the Palestinians do not recognize Israeli sovereignty there.

Neither does anyone else in the world, but that doesn't need to be mentioned all the time, does it?

Of course, it is all to HELP the PALESTINIANS!

I guess the genocidal siege of Gaza and the war-criminal military actions threw me a bit.

"Jerusalem building proposals draw fire; Palestinians call project a ‘bribe’" by Mark Lavie, Associated Press | March 24, 2010

JERUSALEM — City officials have submitted a grandiose plan for hotels, businesses, and new housing for Palestinians in the center of East Jerusalem, according to a statement issued yesterday, triggering renewed Palestinian objections.

If the Palestinians object to the plan then there must be good reason.

The plan calls for developing a large area across from the Old City wall for tourism and commerce, as well as building 1,000 apartments. Palestinians claim East Jerusalem as the capital of the state they want to create, and they object in principle to any Israeli construction there.

The implication being, of course, that the Palestinians are closed-minded about the whole thing.

Umm, would YOU like a BULLDOZER going through YOUR HOME, readers?

Then why would a Palestinian?

A Palestinian leader charged yesterday that the downtown reconstruction plan is meant to compensate for new building in Jewish neighborhoods.

I doubt that; my bet is that it takes more land for Israel because that is their prime motivation (beyond killing Palestinians, of course).

Diplomatic crises have been set off by plans to build in existing Jewish neighborhoods in East Jerusalem, including current tensions between Israel and the United States over plans for 1,600 new apartments in Ramat Shlomo, a Jewish neighborhood in another part of East Jerusalem away from the center.

The Boston Globe's Invisible Ink: Israel Owns Obama

Though the downtown program appeared to be aimed at improving the rundown eastern sector, captured by Israel in the 1967 Mideast war, Palestinians have rejected it in the past because it appears to involve bulldozing large swaths of territory before building the planned hotels, commercial centers, and apartment buildings....

And where are the Palestinians to go in the meantime?

And once they are cleared out of there who is saying Israel won't seize the land?

They been doing it for over 60 f***ing years!!!!!!!!!!!!

The area is crowded with houses and an existing commercial center along a main street that is in the center of the planned renovation area....

Yeah, Israel is doing this because they care about Palestinians, sure.

Jerusalem officials were not available to answer questions about demolition of buildings or Palestinian cooperation in the plan. The huge construction program has been around for several years, and Palestinians have consistently registered their objections....

You would THINK ISRAEL would GET the HINT, huh?

Israel annexed East Jerusalem shortly after the 1967 war, but that has not been recognized by any other country.

Oh, Israel's defiance of the world does get a mention this time.

Through the years, while proclaiming that undivided Jerusalem is Israel’s capital, successive Israeli governments have failed to bring East Jerusalem’s infrastructure up to the standards of the west, where Israelis live.

Translation: Israel NEGLECTED Palestinians under their charge as per the rules of occupation.

Yeah, what a shock, huh?

Jerusalem’s mayor is an Israeli. Although Palestinians who live in Jerusalem have the right to vote in municipal elections, few of them do, believing that voting would be tantamount to endorsing Israeli control. As a result, the Jerusalem municipality and council are run by Israelis.

See why I have doubts, readers?

Naomi Tsur, a deputy mayor in charge of development, told the Associated Press yesterday that City Hall is relating to Jerusalem as an urban area, not a political issue. She noted that Mayor Nir Barkat does not favor handing control of any of the city to the Palestinians, contending that the future of the city must be as a single urban entity, not a divided political site.

And part of ISRAEL. The Zionist AmeriKan MSM "forgot" to add that.

“We’re not at this point an apple that can be cut in half; we’re intertwined and we’re interresponsible,’’ she said. “There’s no geopolitics for us in Jerusalem; there are people with needs in different communities, and that’s what we’re trying to address.’’
