Who Has the Ear of Congress?

Tho$e with ace$$, if you know what I mean.

"Earmark recipients donated to campaigns; Lawmakers got nearly $2 million" by T.W. Farnam, Washington Post | June 4, 2010

That's called a KICKBACK!

WASHINGTON — House and Senate lawmakers have received nearly $2 million in campaign contributions this election cycle from organizations for which they had sponsored earmarks, according to a report by two nonpartisan watchdogs.

Over half of the members of the House and Senate accepted money for the November elections from recipients of their earmarks, according to the report released yesterday by the Center for Responsive Politics and Taxpayers for Common Sense. Thirteen senators and nine House members, including Edward J. Markey, Democrat of Malden, received more than $20,000 from companies and organizations that were beneficiaries of their earmarks.

Another bought and paid-for "public" $hill for $pecial interest$.

“In too many cases campaign contributors are able to donate thousands of dollars and get millions of dollars back in earmarks,’’ said Steve Ellis, vice president of the taxpayers’ group. “This isn’t altruism that is driving their behavior.’’

Or GET MILLIONS and then DONATE THOUSANDS to "politics," right?

In total, lawmakers spent $15.9 billion on earmarks in the current fiscal year....

They added on about $4 billion, 'eh?

Yeah, I guess I didn't hear about it because of all the BG s*** poured into my ears.,

Senator Daniel Inouye, Democrat of Hawaii and chairman of the Appropriations Committee, was the top recipient of money overall, with $140,700 in contributions from beneficiaries of his earmarks.

Representative Jim Moran, Democrat of Virginia, received $70,000 from earmark recipients, the most of any House lawmaker. Moran sits on the House defense appropriations subcommittee and received most of that money from defense interests.

Spokesmen for Moran and Inouye did not immediately return a request for comment.

Pfft!

Business as usual.

Markey received about $32,000 in contributions from groups for which he sponsored earmarks, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.

Those companies included Raytheon Corp. of Waltham and Thermo Fisher Scientific of Waltham, which received earmarks for defense projects, and A123 Systems of Watertown, which received one on a battery development.

REALLY?

Fart-mist Markey took money from a war looter?

"Raytheon Co., one of the country’s biggest defense contractors, said first-quarter profits fell slightly. The company earned $445 million. Revenue rose to $6.05 billion. Sales jumped.... on continued growth it its domestic and foreign training systems for the Army."

Yes, the ECONOMY is GOOD for a SELECT FEW!

YOUR TAX DOLLARS at "work," America!

Markey’s office declined to comment.

Of course.
