"BP’s oil spill cleanup tab hits $2.65b; Company has lost $100b in value" by Michael Kunzelman and Vladimir Isachenkov, Associated Press | June 29, 2010
NEW ORLEANS — BP’s mounting costs for capping and cleaning up the Gulf of Mexico spill have reached $2.65 billion, it said yesterday, but the oil giant denied reports out of Russia that chief executive Tony Hayward is resigning....
It was a rocky start to the week after BP PLC stock fall 6 percent Friday in New York to a 14-year low. BP has lost more than $100 billion in market value since the deep-water drilling platform it was operating blew up April 20, killing 11 workers and starting the massive leak that has fouled the coastline in four states....
As if we really gave a s*** about BP and its problems.
And they are just DOING WHAT THEY ALWAYS DO and PASSING the COSTS ALONG!
"BP bills partners for share of oil spill cost; Anadarko, Mitsui receive invoices" by John Schwartz, New York Times | July 5, 2010
BP has said repeatedly that it will pay for the disastrous oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. But its actions show that it does not intend to go it alone....
The other companies, however, do not necessarily see their responsibilities the way BP does....
The chairman of the Senate subcommittee, Senator Thomas R. Carper of Delaware, said, “We need to make sure that the taxpayer is not left on the hook for the damages associated with this disaster.’’ Carper, a Democrat, said the subcommittee “is focused on getting to the bottom of who owes who and what so that the communities and businesses hurt by this disaster are made whole and that the taxpayers are protected.’’
I DIDN'T THINK WE WERE!
The papers and government have said BP is PAYING FOR IT!
Turns out that was just ONE MORE LIE, huh?
A Senate aide said it was unclear from the documents whether BP was expecting the companies to pay or was simply establishing its position for later battles in arbitration or court.
Yeah, that is really TAKING RESPONSIBILITY!!

"Spill threatens region’s historic shipwrecks
The tedious task of examining the wrecks for damage is beginning, though it is uncertain whether BP will be held responsible for ruining underwater sites."
Why am I getting the feeling they won't be paying for a god-damn thing?
