Chinese Oil Spill Overtakes Gulf Gusher

Yeah, can you believe their media lies and covers up the crisis, Americans?

You are lucky you do not have such a
media, huh?

"China struggles to contain oil spill; Official cites threat to sea life, shore" by Cara Anna, Associated Press | July 22, 2010

BEIJING — China’s largest reported oil spill emptied beaches along the Yellow Sea as its size doubled yesterday, while cleanup efforts included straw mats and frazzled workers equipped with little more than rubber gloves.

Meanwhile, our guys are GETTING SICK down in the GULF and the AmeriKan MSM is SILENT!

An official warned that the spill posed a “severe threat’’ to sea life and water quality as China’s latest environmental crisis spread off the shores of Dalian, once named its most livable city.

At least one cleanup worker has drowned, his body coated in crude.

“I’ve been to a few bays today and discovered they were almost entirely covered with dark oil,’’ said Zhong Yu, with the environmental group Greenpeace China, who spent the day on a boat inspecting the spill. “The oil is half solid and half liquid, and is as sticky as asphalt,’’ she told the Associated Press by telephone.

If only Greenpeace were able to do that in the Gulf.

Oh, they just got on it THIS WEEK, huh?

Looks like the Chinese will sadly have their own.

The oil had spread over 165 square miles of water in the five days since a pipeline at the busy northeastern port exploded. The accident has limited oil shipments to the rest of the country.

State media has said no more oil is leaking into the sea, but the amount spilled is not yet clear....

Hey, OUR FREE PRESS says the SAME THING about the GULF!!!

Officials, oil company workers, and volunteers were turning out by the hundreds to clean blackened beaches.

Which is QUITE DIFFERENT than the reaction in AmeriKa!

Government and industry have KEPT PEOPLE AWAY!!!!!!

How come that is NOT in my MSM paper?

Why did I have to see it on BBC News, MSM?

“We don’t have proper oil cleanup materials, so our workers are wearing rubber gloves and using chopsticks,’’ an official with the Jinshitan Golden Beach Administration Committee told the Beijing Youth Daily newspaper, in apparent exasperation. “This kind of inefficiency means the oil will keep coming to shore. . . This stretch of oil is really difficult to clean up in the short term.’’

But 40 oil-skimming boats and about 800 fishing boats were also deployed to clean up the spill, and Xinhua said more than 9 miles of oil barriers had been set up to block the slick’s spread.

China Central Television earlier reported an estimate of 1,500 tons of oil has spilled, or roughly 400,000 gallons; by comparison, the British Petroleum spill in the Gulf of Mexico has been put in the range of 94 million to 184 million gallons.

The cause of the explosion last Friday that started the spill at China’s second largest port for crude oil imports was still not clear....

Sabotage?

Now who would want to do that?

Sure would hamper China during the war game exercises off Korea, huh?

Just a thought, dear readers.

An official with the State Oceanic Administration has warned the spill will be difficult to clean up....

In other words, China's government is more open and honest with their people than yours is with its, AmeriKa!

Some locals said the area’s economy was already hurting.

I'm sure some folks in our country wouldn't mind sitting down and having a beer with 'em.

"Group accuses China of abuses in Tibet" by Associated Press | July 22, 2010

BEIJING — Chinese security forces fired indiscriminately on Tibetan protesters in 2008 and beat and kicked others until they lay motionless on the ground, a rights group said in a report citing witnesses to clashes in which the government contends that it acted with restraint.

The Human Rights Watch report released today gives a detailed examination — based on rare witness accounts — of China’s crackdown on the broadest antigovernment uprising the country has faced from Tibetans in nearly 50 years.

Riots started in the Tibetan capital of Lhasa and then spread to China’s west.

Since then, Beijing has sought to suppress accounts of rights abuses.

You mean, like, torture?

It has flooded the region with troops, put Tibetans under tighter scrutiny, reduced the flow of international tourists, and allowed in only a few foreign reporters under escort.

Sort of like an INVASION or a SURGE, huh?

Among the report’s findings: Witnesses say that on March 14, 2008, forces in Lhasa opened fire on protesters near Barkhor, the heart of the old city. They say that at several rallies, forces hit demonstrators with batons and rifle butts until they were motionless. Security forces shot at students headed to a demonstration and at civilians marching toward government buildings, they say.

And how many people died?

Beijing had no comment.

Not worth one.
