Obama's Healthy Hypocrisy

So he can sue Arizona for adopting laws his administration fails to enforce, but when the states sue him for his unconstitutional health tax....

"US wants suit over health bill quashed" by Associated Press | June 18, 2010

PENSACOLA, Fla. — The Justice Department has asked a federal judge to dismiss a lawsuit by 20 states challenging President Obama’s health care overhaul....

Yes, mein Fuhrer.

A key issue in the suit by the states, the National Federation of Independent Business, and several individual taxpayers is whether the federal government can require individuals to purchase health care insurance and fine those who fail to do so....

Where exactly in the Constitution does it give the feds that power because unless it is explicitly spelled out they don't have it. Check the Ninth and Tenth Amendments.

In its arguments for the motion to dismiss, the Justice Department says the requirement to buy coverage is an exercise of Congress’s constitutional power to tax and spend.

Seems a little broad, doesn't it?

So HEALTH CARE is COMMERCE?

“The Supreme Court has long held that an exercise of this power is valid,’’ wrote a team of government lawyers led by Assistant Attorney General Tony West.

Okay, and taxation without representation means revolution, fascist puke!

WE DIDN'T WANT your HEALTH TAX!

What WE WANTED was a DECENT SINGLE-PAYER PLAN like CANADA or FRANCE!

And -- as usual with this "democratic" government -- we DON'T GET what we WANT!

The states have argued the new law will require them to pay additional Medicaid costs not covered by the federal government.

Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum filed the lawsuit in Florida just minutes after Obama signed the 10-year, $938 billion health care bill into law.

Other states in the suit are Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Indiana, Idaho, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Nebraska, Nevada, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, and Washington.

Even Democrats don't like the idea:

"Immigration suit worries governors" by Abby Goodnough, The New York Times | July 12, 2010

In a private meeting with White House officials over the weekend, Democratic governors voiced deep anxiety about the Obama administration’s suit against Arizona’s new immigration law, worrying that it could cost a vulnerable Democratic Party in the fall elections.

While the weak economy dominated the official agenda at the summer meeting in Boston of the National Governors Association, concern over immigration policy pervaded the closed-door session between Democratic governors and White House officials and simmered throughout the three-day event.

At the Democrats’ meeting Saturday, some governors bemoaned the timing of the Justice Department lawsuit, according to two governors who spoke anonymously because the discussion was private....

The Democrats’ meeting provided a window on tensions between the White House and states over the suit, which the Justice Department filed last week in federal court in Phoenix....

=Oh, it is REALLY ALL ABOUT OBAMA and HIS POLITICAL FORTUNES, 'eh?

I'll bet Democrats are so used to getting the knife in the back they don't even feel it anymore.
