Is it just me, or is that word choice and framing a disgusting insult?
It's a familiar theme in the paper: inhuman Muslims and the nothing-but-good U.N. As if the U.N. would know anything about weaning away from war. Wherever they are or go there is slaughter. They either don't prevent it, or help in the process. Just as a Haitian, Congolese, or Ivory Coast citizen what happens when the U.N. comes a-callin'.
The 11,000-strong rebel force has been waging a rebellion for self-rule in the south, home of minority Muslims in the predominantly Roman Catholic Philippines....
I can't say I'm against that, and sorry, I'm not falling for the religious sectarian trap.
Nearly 600 minors have been listed as soldiers by UNICEF-trained personnel in several rebel strongholds in a program that began last year, but the guerrillas regard some of them as mature under Islam, rebel spokesman Eid Kabalu said. The rebels define the age of maturity under Islam as 13 for girls and 14 for boys, rebel leader Mohagher Iqbal said....

And they didn't live up to it (sigh).
