Springfield Man Killed Mother

"Man is accused of killing his mother

A Springfield man is being held without bail after pleading not guilty to killing his mother and later stealing and crashing a taxicab. Luis Rosa, 41, was arraigned Monday in Springfield District Court on charges including murder, assault, and armed carjacking. Police said Rosa was arrested early Monday after overturning the taxicab he had allegedly stolen after stabbing the 25-year-old driver with a butcher knife. The driver required treatment for a cut on his shoulder. Rosa was later charged with killing his mother, Norma Perez, 57, who was found dead in her apartment by relatives just before 5 p.m. Sunday."

"Boy tells jury of watching mother’s shooting

A boy who was 7 when he watched his mother being gunned down along with a friend in Maine testified at his father’s trial Monday. The third-grader told jurors Monday that his father — Joel Hayden, 32, of New Bedford, Mass. — was inside his mother’s house in New Gloucester, Maine, when he saw one of the victims, Trevor Mills, 28, fall through a glass door. He said Hayden then came outside and shot his mother. Hayden allegedly thought his estranged girlfriend, Renee Sandora, 27, of New Gloucester, was having an affair with Mills."
