"Police chief denies failure to address false reports
A Maine town’s police chief is denying accusations that he failed to act after learning most of the town’s police officers consistently falsified patrol reports. The Portland Press Herald reported that Eliot Police Chief Theodor Short said he and a former deputy chief only discussed the possibility that officers lied in reports. He said he was never presented a final investigative report about the issue. Short’s denial comes after Deputy Chief Kevin Cady testified that he presented a 60-plus-page report to Short documenting how he discovered four of the department’s six patrol officers repeatedly lied in reports. Cady said the officers claimed they patrolled areas in town while GPS data from cruisers proved they had not."
