Where No Man Has Gone Before....

This is a tough one for me.

One the one hand, the Star Trek/Star Wars guy loves the ideas and dreams; on the other hand, NASA is notorious as another conduit for high-tech military, plus we have tons of problems right here on earth.

Shouldn't we fix them before carrying our pollution into space and infect some other life forms?

Oh, yeah, this doesn't help:
Whom To Ask When You Need a Billion to Cover Cost Overruns

"NASA's direction remains uncertain; Obama considers new boss, mission" by Joel Achenbach, Washington Post | April 6, 2009

WASHINGTON - NASA has a budget that is creeping toward $20 billion a year. What it needs is....

to be scrubbed and grounded is what it needs!

NASA is an agency that thrives on stability. Spaceflight is not something you can extemporize. Missions take many years to plan. NASA sometimes launches a space probe conceived a generation earlier.

Is this a promo piece for them or a news report?

Need money? SHUT DOWN the WARS!!! NOW!!!!!

One immediate issue involves the space shuttle. Right now, the program is supposed to be shut down at the end of 2010 upon completion of the international space station. Senator Bill Nelson, Democrat of Florida, fearing thousands of lost jobs in Florida, is lobbying to bolster the NASA budget in 2011 by $2.5 billion to allow the shuttle program to continue for at least another year, even if that simply means stretching out the already scheduled flights.

Yeah, KEEP THAT PROGRAM GOING, looter Bill, even though there are ALREADY COST OVERRUNS!!!

I guess TAXPAYERS can FUND THINGS FOREVER, huh?
