WASHINGTON - The White House is taking a mostly tight-lipped stance on an environmental adviser who made inflammatory statements in the past and is linked to efforts suggesting a governmental role in the 2001 terrorist attacks....
The matter surfaced after news reports of a derogatory comment Van Jones, an administration official specializing in environmentally friendly “green jobs,’’ had made in the past about Republicans, and separately, of Jones’s name appearing on a 2004 petition that asked for congressional hearings and other investigations into whether high-level government officers had allowed the Sept. 11 attacks to occur.

He also apologized “if I have offended anyone with statements I made in the past.’’

Howard Dean, former head of the Democratic National Committee, told “Fox News Sunday’’;“.... I don’t think he really thinks the government had anything to do with causing 9/11.’’
Now, no matter what you think of 9/11, the government did have a role. Even the 9/11 Commission admitted that U.S. foreign policy has aggravated the situation. So even if you believe the official conspiracy, Dean just lied!

Jones said in an earlier statement that he did not agree with the petition’s stand on the Sept. 11 attacks and that “it certainly does not reflect my views, now or ever.’’
Representative Mike Pence of Indiana said, “His extremist views.... have no place in.... the public debate.’’
