Green Jobs Going Global

And LEAVING America, readers!!!!

"My view is that the legislation will create clean energy jobs that cannot be shipped overseas" -- Representative Edward Markey of Massachusetts, chairman of the House Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming"

I thought these were the GOOD JOBS that CAN'T be MOVED, Ed?

"Operations executive resigns at Evergreen; Maker of solar panels changing strategy, shifting more work to contractors" by Erin Ailworth, Globe Staff | August 20, 2009

....
Evergreen officials said last month that they think the company’s Chinese facility will be operational by next spring....

global operations
....

Is that for what your
pension and college tuition was meant?

In a statement to the Globe, Evergreen wrote that as its expansion strategy “evolved in recent months’’ it has focused on bringing in contract solar cell and panel manufacturers to augment the company’s own manufacturing....

Yeah, bringing them "in" by GOING OUT of the country!

Evergreen Solar Inc., which makes solar panels at a factory in Devens, is parting ways with vice president of operations Rodolfo Archbold.

Archbold was in charge of executing Evergreen’s global manufacturing expansion and overseeing factory operations. Earlier this year, the company announced an overseas expansion through a subcontracting partnership with Jiawei Solarchina Co. in Wuhan, China.

So much for being IMMOVABLE, 'eh, readers?

Evergreen will lease a factory on Jiawei’s campus, where it will make solar panels. The reasoning, chief executive Rick Feldt said at the time, was that Evergreen could grow in China for less money than it could at locations in the United States, while also producing ever-cheaper panels....

MARLBOROUGH - Evergreen Solar Inc., which makes silicon wafers for solar panels, yesterday introduced a new line of solar panels designed for the global off-grid market.

The new ES-C solar panels, which include 80-, 120-, and 125-watt panels, will be made by Evergreen Solar’s contract manufacturing partner, Jiawei Solarchina Co., using cells supplied by Evergreen Solar....

That would be IN CHINA!

Looks like Evergreen turned BROWN on Massachusetts, huh?

You know why they are going over there, right?

"The innovation is only likely to be undertaken by power companies if they’re offered big incentives to offset the costs."

One wonders how many thousands of dollars taxpayers are out.

So Evergreen is on its way to China,
Boston-Power is headed who knows where, and EMC is headed for India, huh?

"EMC sees a bright future in India; Firm plans to invest $1.5b over 5 years" by Hiawatha Bray, Globe Staff | September 11, 2009

EMC Corp. of Hopkinton is betting big on India as a major market for data storage hardware and software, and as a key source of first-rate engineering talent.

Tell me again WHY you are getting that DEGREE, Amurkn cannon fodder, I mean, kid.

On Wednesday, EMC said it would invest $1.5 billion in the country over the next five years, three times as much as in the last five years. The money will be used to expand EMC’s services business, which helps businesses integrate the company’s products into their data centers.

How about EXPANDING HERE, you LOOTERS!?

EMC will also build up its customer support operation in India, as well as research and development labs. Activities that are now hosted at multiple locations will be centralized at an EMC 60-acre “Center of Excellence’’ in Bangalore. “India offers tremendous opportunities in innovation and market potential,’’ said EMC chief financial officer David Goulden during an opening ceremony for the newly expanded Bangalore center.

Those are NOT American jobs, folks!!!

“India’s long been a highly educated, lower cost labor force in technology,’’ said Steve Duplessie, senior analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group Inc. in Milford. In addition, Duplessie said, EMC was “enhancing their Asian customer support with low-cost, English-speaking knowledge workers.’’

Now you know where you went wrong, 'murkn. Ten-hut!

But EMC also uses its Center of Excellence program to gain access to technical expertise from academic scientists and engineers around the world. The company runs similar centers in Israel, Russia, Ireland, and China.

Why am I NOT SURPRISED at all?!!!!

Most of the research conducted at large companies like EMC is not focused on basic science but on product development. Engineers do not spend as much time working on theoretical concepts. Yet improvements in the underlying science could eventually lead to new business opportunities, so EMC uses its Centers of Excellence to form alliances with local universities that conduct such research.

Just NOT HERE, Bay Stater!

"EMC gets about half its revenue from abroad. Gelsinger believes that EMC must expand its sales in fast-growing overseas markets like China and India."

And STILL the STATE SHOVELS you-know-what up your you-know-where, readers!!!!

"State predicts bright future for jobs in solar energy" by Joyce Pellino Crane and Chris Reidy, Globe Correspondent | Globe Staff | September 9, 2009

Yeah, if you LIVE in CHINA!!!!!!!!

The number of jobs in the state’s solar energy industry nearly doubled from 2007 to 2008 - and the numbers are on pace to grow sharply again this year, according to Massachusetts officials.

Ian A. Bowles, secretary of the state’s Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs, said he would disclose the numbers today at the trade show Cleantech Forum XXIII. The two-day show opened today at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center.

A survey of nearly 100 solar energy employers in Massachusetts showed the number of jobs in the sector grew from 1,086 in 2007 to 2,075 in 2008, Bowles said. The growth is “indicative of the health and welfare’’ of the local solar energy industry, he added.

Oh, they GREW by LESS THAN a HUNDRED!!!

Ooops, JUST LOST THAT MANY JOBS!!!!

Un-frikkin'-real!!!!

I'm SO SICK of STATE and BUSINESS LIARS and LOOTERS -- as well as the PIMPING MSM that PROMOTES THEM!

Renewable energy initiatives - especially those that are solar-related - have been a key part of Governor Deval Patrick’s push to make Massachusetts a “green’’ energy leader....

Well, there SURE is enough GAS coming from the LYING LOOTERS of GOVERNMENT!

State officials are also touting as a boon to the Massachusetts economy a recent award of almost $1 million in grants for green jobs training, but some economists expressed skepticism over the long-term impact of the funding.

Yeah, especially when the companies are MOVING OUT!

The grants, awarded to six organizations and schools including the University of Massachusetts at Boston and the Blackstone Valley Vocational Regional School District in Upton, will fund training for energy efficiency programs such as weatherizing buildings and technician apprenticeships. Some of the money will back graduate and undergraduate engineering and interdisciplinary programs, but the bulk of the funds are for vocational training.

And when the $$$ runs out, no more job. Not stimulus.

Samuel Sherraden, a policy analyst at the nonpartisan New America Foundation in Washington, D.C., said the industry is too new to benefit from job creation programs.

“I don’t see the green sector providing the stimulus that the economy needs,’’ he said, “either in terms of jobs or in terms of the positive impact on the trade balance, because the US relies too heavily on foreign countries to source goods needed for a green economy.’’

Translation: There WILL BE NO GREEN JOBS, 'murkns!

I think you JUST GOT
SHAT on!!!!!

Michael Lynch, an economist with IHS Global Insight in Lexington, said a program that trains workers in energy efficiency would require a demand side to translate the training into new growth, and it’s unclear whether the regional market is large enough to keep those workers employed.

Once you weatherstrip a place....

The recession has taken a toll, he said....

The real impact to the regional economy, Lynch said, will be realized when investment dollars create research, engineering, legal, and consulting jobs among the area’s technology companies.

Can you wait
50 years?

“The essence of the economy for Massachusetts is that we have a cluster of high technology firms here,’’ he said....

Like EMC?

Government officials voiced certainty that stimulus dollars for green job training are necessary to meet future demand. “We’re making a down payment on the nation’s environmental future,’’ said Matt C. Rogers, senior adviser for Recovery Act Implementation at the US Department of Energy.

“A critical component is making sure we have a workforce for the jobs that are here now and in the future.’’ Rogers, who is charged with overseeing the disbursement of almost $37 billion in energy stimulus funds under the 2009 American Reinvestment and Recovery Act, is the Cleantech Forum’s keynote speaker....

STOP LYING, you scummy, self-serving fart-mister!

After a while, you no longer want to read the Boston Globe, know what I mean?
