Occupation Iraq: Biden Follows Bush Footsteps

But he's wearing a different pair of shoes so you got "change," world.

"Insurgents attack Green Zone during Biden’s visit; 2 civilians killed when shells hit residences" by David Rising, Associated Press | September 16, 2009

BAGHDAD - Insurgents fired four mortar shells at Baghdad’s heavily fortified Green Zone yesterday, killing two civilians, on the same day Vice President Joe Biden arrived in the capital on an unannounced visit to help resolve political differences among Iraqis....

Still not safe enough to tell them we are coming despite the reduced violence, huh?

Pfft! I'm tired of the lies.

One round that fell short hit residential apartments on the Tigris River, killing two people and wounding five others, including a 12-year-old, a police official said. He spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to comment to the press. As the White House’s point man on Iraq, Biden said he has been in regular contact with the country’s leaders....

The three-day trip gives Biden a chance to meet with the full range of Iraqi leaders, both in Baghdad’s central government and in the self-governing Kurdish region, whose boundaries with the rest of the country have become a volatile fault line....

Biden said that General Ray Odierno, the top US commander in Iraq, was optimistic that the readiness of Iraqi forces would allow the US military to withdraw all combat troops next year according to plan, and then proceed with pulling out the remaining 50,000 troops by the end of the following year. There are now about 130,000 US troops in Iraq....

More horse shit!

The point being that YOU HAVE BEEN LIED to about IRAQ since WAY, WAY BACK in 1990 when the U.S. turned on him and the LIES HAVE CONTINUED to THIS DAY!

In his meetings with Iraqi officials, Biden was expected to discuss plans for the January elections and the ongoing violence in Iraq’s north. As the number of bombings and other attacks declines elsewhere in Iraq, the north remains a battleground between Sunni Arab extremists and Iraqi and US forces. Kurdish-Arab tension there also frequently flares into violence....

Have YOU had it with the DOUBLE-TALKING BS?

"Rockets explode as Biden wraps up Maliki meetings" by David Rising, Associated Press | September 17, 2009

BAGHDAD - Insurgents fired at least two rockets at Baghdad’s Green Zone yesterday, minutes after Vice President Joe Biden wrapped up meetings with Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and expressed confidence that attempts to destabilize Iraq through violence will fail.

This from the guy who wants to carve it up into three states per Israel's Clean Break order, cui bono?

The sound of the rockets could be heard on the side of the Tigris River opposite the Green Zone, and people inside Maliki’s office, including Biden and Maliki, were warned to stay inside. The rockets could be heard exploding in the vicinity of the Green Zone but there were no reports of casualties.

It was the second such attack in as many nights as Biden met with US and Iraqi officials inside the fortified area in downtown Baghdad that houses government offices, agencies, and the US and British embassies. After Biden’s arrival Tuesday, four rockets were fired at the Green Zone in attacks that killed two Iraqi civilians.

Yeah, the party's over!

The attacks took place after Biden had retired for the night following meetings with US officials on the first day of his visit. Three suspects were detained for questioning, but let go.

After the meeting with Maliki, Biden said Iraq’s future depended on its ability to resolve its lingering political and sectarian differences, adding that the United States was “committed to the Iraqi government and people as they work to create a peaceful and prosperous Iraq.’’

Which they had before the U.S. went to war with it some 18+ years ago. Not perfect, but a hell of a lot better than now.

Although violence has declined around Iraq, deadly attacks still occur.....

As the number of bombings and other attacks declines elsewhere in Iraq, violence has persisted in the north, which remains a battleground between Sunni Arab extremists and Iraqi and US forces. Kurdish-Arab tension there also frequently flares into violence....

What is it that Hitler said about lies and repetition?

Yesterday, a suicide bomber on a motorcycle attacked a checkpoint north of Baghdad, killing three people and wounding nine, police said....
