Ted Kennedy's Last Tab

I know you are tapped out, Bay State taxpayers, but what the heck?

"State Police Kennedy details: $115,000

The cost of State Police overtime details for Senator Edward M. Kennedy’s funeral services last month totaled nearly $115,000, covering such things as security of dignitaries and tactical units, said David Procopio, State Police spokesman. The overtime totaled 1,697 hours, said Procopio, who described the spending as “entirely appropriate and necessary for an event of this scope.’’ That sentiment was echoed yesterday by Mayor Thomas M. Menino of Boston. “When you think about how much money he got for Boston . . . it is well worth it,’’ Menino said on WBZ radio. “Kennedy delivered for Massachusetts all those years, and it is a great way to say, ‘Thanks, Senator Kennedy, for all you have done for us.’ ’’ Menino said the US government would cover some of the cost."

Oh, so YOU got SCREWED as well, fellow American taxpayers!

How appropriate.

Couldn't ALL THOSE BIG WIGS at the funeral kick in a chunk of change into the collection plate?

"Lawmakers divided on filling seat; Interim senator appointment debated" by Matt Viser, Globe Staff | September 15, 2009

.... The Democrat-led Legislature changed the law five years ago, when Mitt Romney was governor and lawmakers worried that he would appoint a Republican to fill Kerry’s seat if Kerry won the presidency. At the time, lawmakers rejected an amendment that would have allowed for an interim appointment....

Oh, so they EVEN DENIED THAT to ROMNEY, the SHORT-SIGHTED FOOLS!!!!!

Some lawmakers worry they will look hypocritical, because of their actions in 2004.

Yeah, they are that, too -- for the ENTIRE NATION to SEE!!
