Money Monday: Hanging Out in the Locker Room

I never do, I don't care if that is where the money is at.

"Man convicted in credit card thefts" by Jonathan Saltzman | February 4, 2010

A Texas man has been convicted of federal charges for his role in a scheme to steal credit cards from health club locker rooms across the country and scam more than $400,000 in cash advances at horse racetracks and casinos in at least 10 states.

Yup, those gambling interests all lead back to (rhymes with) you-know-whos.

Dennis Savarese, 52, of Austin, was found guilty in US District Court in Boston on Tuesday of conspiracy, aggravated identity theft, and identity theft fraud....

Savarese conspired with at least four other indicted men, all from Revere and East Boston, according to US Attorney Carmen M. Ortiz. Every week for more than two years, he traveled around the country and broke into lockers at two health club chains to steal credit cards.

He and the co-conspirators allegedly used the credit cards to buy fake identification cards, using the stolen names, phony addresses, and their own photographs.

On weekends, they used the stolen cards and bogus IDs to receive fraudulent cash advances at racetracks and casinos.

Or worse? Farm out some fake identities for false-flag patsies?

The four other defendants have pleaded guilty and await sentencing on similar charges.

Why aren't we given their names?
