Pumping Up Governor Patrick

Who else?

Patrick's Pitfalls

Seriously, Globe, you have to get out of the
bubble.

Yup, agenda-pushing distortion and delusion passed of as news -- unless the fix is already in the machines.

"Politically, Patrick’s back in the game; Energized governor gains as 2 rivals spar" by Frank Phillips, Globe Staff | April 7, 2010

Massachusetts Democrats, who for months had all but given up hope of holding onto the governor’s office, are now convinced that Deval Patrick’s reelection campaign has come to life, in part because of his reengagement in the political process that he shunned during much of his term.

Add in some legislative successes and proactive moves on Beacon Hill, and Patrick, according to legislators, mayors, and political operatives, is emerging from a dark period that saw pundits and even some of his closest allies writing him off. The shift could be partly attributable to the evolving dynamic of the three-way gubernatorial race, in which Republican favorite Charles D. Baker and independent Timothy P. Cahill, the state treasurer and a former Democrat, are battling to position themselves as Patrick’s major rival.

Which is coincidentally(?) the ANGLE the GLOBE is PUSHING!

The two challengers have indulged in a series of attacks on each other as they vie for disaffected voters, including activists in the “tea party movement’’ and conservative Democrats. The governor’s advisers, having just completed some private polling, argue that Patrick, who has held a small lead over Baker in recent public polls and a wider one over Cahill, has gained ground over the two as they squabble. Patrick’s path is made easier by the fact that, in a three-way race, he can win reelection without a majority.

Yeah, the Globe is NOW REPORTING SELF-SERVING POLLS on the FRONT PAGE as if it were "news."

SO SAD, dear readers!

To be sure, seasoned Democratic observers and other analysts say, Patrick still faces serious challenges on the road to November. His job performance ratings have been perilously low and the political climate remains toxic. His fund-raising has been anemic compared with the huge monthly hauls that Baker has been taking in since last fall; the Republican has built a campaign war chest that is three times the size of the governor’s.

Yeah, and it is DEMOCRATS who are GIVING to Baker!!

But don't worry, be happy, guv!

The Globe confirms your delusions, just as the New York Times confirmed Cheney's leaks to them on Iraqi nukes, etc.

But even though their assessments are largely anecdotal, Democrats believe that Patrick, who is holding a series of campaign kickoff events this weekend, is experiencing something of a resurgence that can be felt in precincts around the state.

Anecdotal = BULLSHIT!

And HERE IT IS on the FRONT PAGE of my agenda-pushing, pro-Patrick Boston Glob.

“Several months ago I thought his chances of reelection were going south big-time,’’ said state Representative Eugene L. O’Flaherty, a Democrat from Chelsea and no longtime ally of the governor’s. “Now, personally, I think he is going to win.’’

So the MACHINES have been SET and the FIX is IN, huh?

That is why Cahill is really in the race, huh?

Yeah, he "quit" the Democrat Party, yup.

Considering the guy is a top-notch liar....

“There has definitely been a shift,’’ added Somerville Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone, who was an early supporter. “There were times I thought he was on the ropes.’’

Curtatone said his constituents “are recognizing a new energy . . . You can talk to people and hear it.’’

PFFFFFFFT!

That's all you are hearing, and you sure ain't smelling it.

Go ahead, Democrats; this attitude cost you Ted Kennedy's Senate seat and its going to cost you the corner office again.

They NEVER LEARN HERE!

I guess the ONE-PARTY FIEFDOM tends to fill the head with something stinky.

At least one Republican analyst agreed.

That the only one the Globe could find?

“People who write this guy off do so at their own peril,’’ said Kevin Sowyrda, a media consultant who worked for GOP hopeful Christy Mihos. “He came out of nowhere in 2006 because no one paid attention to him. But he outworked and outcampaigned his opponents. He has started to do what he did before.’’

Yeah, well, WE DIDN'T KNOW BETTER BACK THEN, and WANTED CHANGE because the Globe told us all how evil Romney and Republicans were!

I WON'T MAKE THAT MISTAKE AGAIN!!!!!!!!

Indeed, Democrats say the governor, who has spent the last three years largely inattentive to electoral chores, appears to have returned to the campaign trail with the vigor he had in 2006, when he crisscrossed the state as a long-shot candidate and ended up winning by a landslide.

That is WHY we WANT HIM OUT!!

And I am AMAZED at how EVERY ELECTION SEASON the politicians MAGICALLY REDISCOVER VOTERS no matter what letter comes after their name!!!

His fund-raising has picked up. He is repeatedly showing up in far-flung corners of the state, cutting ribbons, pressing the flesh, huddling with local officials, and giving out grants. In a sign of his political confidence, he even made a forceful appearance last week on the radio show of Howie Carr, a loud, persistent critic of the governor’s.

At the same time, Patrick has used his perch as governor to push his priorities at the State House. He successfully pushed for an overhaul to education laws earlier this year. (However, Massachusetts, like many states, missed out on the first round of federal grant funding it hoped to win by passing the measure.)

Patrick has also used his power to limit health insurance rate increases. Major national bond rating agencies have praised Patrick and the Democratic Legislature for their handling of the state’s fiscal crisis. Patrick aides say their recent internal polling shows the governor having rebounded.

So when are you going to put down the pom-poms, Globe?

Advisers say a survey conducted last week by Patrick campaign pollster Tom Kiley had the governor’s once small lead over Baker increasing to double digits, with Cahill a few points behind the Republican. His job performance numbers are close to even, the poll indicated, which would be major improvement. Voters also expressed a more positive view of the state’s economic climate.

They truly believe we will eat this s*** slop, huh?

You really need to get your heads out of your asses, Massachusetts Democrats.

“From what I have seen in the last couple of months, he has turned the corner,’’ said state Representative Stephen DiNatale, a Democrat from Fitchburg, after observing Patrick on Beacon Hill and at campaign swings through his northern Worcester County district.

Another one up ahead; this is beginning to feel like Iraq.

Turn!

Dan Payne, a veteran Democratic media consultant who worked briefly for Patrick in the 2006 race and has been critical of him in the past, said the governor is projecting a sharper image.

Yeah, we will just IGNORE his RECORD, right?

Payne said Patrick, who he said once seemed to blame others — particularly the media and some in the political establishment — for failing to understand him, seems far less defensive than when he first came into office. “He is getting into fighting trim,’’ Payne said. “Nothing focuses the mind like an election.’’

And nothing boils the blood more, either!

What an idiot, huh?

"Patrick formally launches campaign for reelection; Weekend stops planned at nearly 20 communities" by Matt Carroll and Matt Byrne, Globe Staff | Globe Correspondent | April 11, 2010

Hopscotching around the state, Governor Deval Patrick yesterday formally kick-started his campaign for reelection....

So what was the taxpayer-funded carbon footprint on that?

Patrick faces formidable challenges, including low job performance ratings, severe budget problems that leave him vulnerable to attack from special interest groups, and thorny issues from health insurance to casino gambling....

Yeah, just minimize all that, Glob.

Of course, he has to get through the primary first:

"Ross says she’ll be in Democratic primary

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Grace Ross is vowing to collect the backing of enough delegates to the party’s state convention to secure a spot on the primary ballot. Ross, who is hoping to unseat Democratic incumbent Deval Patrick, said she will work to meet the 15 percent threshold. She formally announced her candidacy yesterday. Ross accused Patrick of not working hard enough for green jobs in Massachusetts and not backing a proposal to create a health care public option allowing the state to compete with private insurers. Ross, a community organizer from Worcester, ran for governor four years ago as the candidate for the Green-Rainbow Party (AP)."

Maybe I will go change my registration and vote against this
clown.
