Taiwan, Torture, and Tianneman

All TROUBLE with a CAPITAL T, huh?

Or turd filler, if you prefer:

"Taiwan aide vows defense against China" by Associated Press | May 5, 2010

TAIPEI — Taiwan will maintain a robust defense to deal with a possible attack by China, a senior official said yesterday in the first Defense Ministry comment since the president’s contentious statement that the island would never seek US help to defend itself.

Now, WHY would CHINA ATTACK?

"Taiwan's rapidly improving ties with longtime foe China are diminishing US influence"

SO, as we have SEEN with NORTH KOREA any "event" would LIKELY BE ANOTHER FALSE FLAG by USraeli interests!!!!

We'll take a war, any war, to get the focus off the Gulf Gusher, Israel's atrocities, and the s*** economy they are lying about.

Vice Defense Minister Chao Shih-chang’s made the comment amid a firestorm of criticism from the opposition Democratic Progressive Party over President Ma Ying-jeou’s remarks, which were broadcast April 30 during an interview on CNN.

The remarks appeared to many in the opposition to represent a fundamental shift in more than 30 years of Taiwanese defense policy, which has been grounded on the assumption that the United States could come to Taiwan’s aid if China attacked.

The policy has come into sharper focus in recent years because a Chinese military buildup has increased the possibility that Taiwan might not be able to withstand a Chinese attack on its own.

But others believe that Ma really meant to underscore his administration’s success in diminishing tensions with China — a development, he believes, that reduced to near zero the possibility that the United States might be caught up in a cross-strait conflict.

Yup, NO CHANCE at WAR THERE if you REALLY THINK ABOUT IT!!!!

"China bans court evidence gained by torture" by Tini Tran, Associated Press | June 1, 2010

BEIJING — China has issued new rules saying evidence obtained through torture and threats cannot be used in criminal prosecutions and said such evidence would be thrown out in death penalty cases under appeal....

So CHINA is BETTER than YOU, AmeriKa?!!!!!

The rulings are especially important for death penalty cases, where a flawed system has led to the deaths by torture of several criminal suspects in detention centers....

Anyone have a mirror for the USraeli MSM here?

The frequent use of torture by police to obtain confessions was highlighted earlier this month in the case of Zhao Zuohai, a man who spent 11 years in jail after being beaten into confessing to the murder of a man who wasn’t dead.

The case put an embarrassing spotlight on China’s often corrupt justice system.

I can't throw stones like the AmeriKan MSM.

"Aging parents carry on Tiananmen Sq. fight; Victims’ families still press China to concede ’89 deaths" by Cara Anna, Associated Press | June 3, 2010

BEIJING — As the 21st Tiananmen anniversary approaches tomorrow, the aging parents of victims fear their cause will die with them.

Don't worry; history never forgets and truth always outs.

Always.

The oldest of the Tiananmen Mothers, as the group is called, is 94 years old. The group’s leader, retired professor Ding Zilin, says more and more members die each year.

“Can it be that you really want to wear us all down or wait for our deaths so that the problem will naturally disappear?’’ the group wrote in an essay addressed to the Chinese government and made public this week through the group Human Rights in China, based in New York....

Young people in China know little about the Tiananmen events, but it is clear the issue shimmers below the surface.

That reminds me of so many American kids for so long now.

One of China’s most assertive state-controlled newspapers published a cartoon Tuesday that showed a little boy drawing a line of tanks on a blackboard, with what looked like a soldier standing in front.

It was part of a package for International Children’s Day, but the image was quickly passed around online with comments about the crackdown — then quickly removed from the paper’s website.

One of Tiananmen’s most enduring images is of a man standing in front of a line of tanks in the heart of Beijing and trying to block their way.

As authorities again put pressure on people inside China to prevent Tiananmen-related events, those in exile are choosing to mark the day on the latest popular online community — Twitter.

Or as it is known here, S***ter!

If the MSM is promoting it you know it stinks.

The student leader who topped the most-wanted list after the crackdown, Wang Dan, said in an e-mailed statement yesterday that he would be tweeting along with the second most-wanted, Wu’er Kaixi, and fellow student organizer Chen Ziming.

The goal, Wang said, is to “express our determination that we will never forget Tiananmen.’’

There are things I'll never forget, 9/11 chief among them.

BEIJING — Meanwhile, throngs of tourists and kite-fliers milled around Tiananmen Square yesterday under the watchful eye of security forces on alert for any attempt to commemorate the 21st anniversary of the bloody military crackdown on pro-democracy demonstrations.

But in Hong Kong, the semiautonomous Chinese territory, the annual candlelight vigil drew thousands who took advantage of the freedom of speech in the former British colony.

What good is free speech if the government doesn't listen anyway?

I'm not saying I want it taken away (far from it), but the question remains.
