Afghanistan and Pakistan Talk Turkey

Add this to the Gaza flotilla incident.  No wonder Turkey is getting under USraeli skin.

"The president of Turkey said his country, Pakistan, and Afghanistan will hold joint military exercises as part of efforts to build trust between Kabul and Islamabad.

The maneuvers will be staged in April, President Abdullah Gul said at the end of a fifth round of Turkish-sponsored talks aimed at reducing tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan over militant attacks along the countries’ lawless border.

Gul, addressing journalists at a joint news conference with the presidents of Afghanistan, Hamid Karzai, and Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, also said there had been movement toward closer cooperation between the two nations’ intelligence services in combating terrorism.

What didn't make the web (but appeared in my printed paper):

Turkey has close ties to both Afghanistan and Pakistan and has been working to bring the two countries together.

Earlier. the three leaders oversaw the signing of several deals, including one for antinarcotics cooperation between their police forces.

And right about that time we started getting religious radicalism and political assassination stories coming out of Pakistan!

Coincidence?
