"Lawrence man accused of stabbing man at estranged wife’s home

A Lawrence man was ordered held without bail Friday pending a dangerousness hearing after he was accused of stabbing a man at the home of his estranged wife Thursday, said Essex District Attorney Jonathan W. Blodgett’s office. Jose Picart, 57, was arraigned in Lawrence District Court on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and attempted murder in the stabbing of the 47-year-old man. The victim was in critical condition at a Boston hospital, Blodgett’s office said. In another open case, Picart is charged with assaulting his estranged wife and was previously released on condition that he have no contact with her."

"Babysitter gets probation in Danvers home alone case

A woman who authorities said left alone the 2-year-old child she was hired to babysit and then concocted a story about being kidnapped has been sentenced to probation. The Salem News said Lisa Dibiasso was sentenced Thursday to a year of probation and has been barred from working with children after a judge continued a charge of child endangerment without a finding. If Dibiasso complies with probation conditions, the charge will be dismissed. Dibiasso was hired by a Danvers woman who saw her listing on a child care website. Authorities said Dibiasso was spotted several times leaving the home without the child and, when confronted by police, claimed she had been kidnapped or stalked."

"Two females are sexually assaulted in Brighton, police say

Two females were sexually assaulted in separate incidents about 40 minutes apart in Brighton Thursday, leading police to believe the attacks are related, authorities said. The first attack occurred on Brighton Avenue at 7:50 p.m. The second one happened at 8:30 p.m. at Quint and Brighton avenues, Boston police said. Both victims described the suspect as a white man, in his late 30s to early 40s, about 5 foot 8, with short, brown hair and possibly balding. The assaults took place days after a 37-year-old Brighton woman reported a peeping Tom had been lurking outside the window of her Commonwealth Avenue apartment."
