It sure looks like theft of the good taxpayer's dollars:
"Verizon has paid the Commonwealth of Massachusetts $1.3 million to resolve allegations it overcharged for phone service. The settlement, which had not been filed in court Tuesday, was reached after Attorney General Martha Coakley’s office found the company overbilled agencies and municipalities from 2006 to 2012. The attorney general began investigating after a whistle-blower sued Verizon separately. Under the agreement, state and municipal agencies may be eligible for additional payouts from Verizon. The largest overcharge, $52,000, was allegedly applied to the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority. Most agencies, including school districts and social service providers, allegedly were overbilled by amounts around or below $10. Verizon neither admitted to nor denied wrongdoing."
And how much did they profit while budgets in this state now need to be cut (and while the MBTA is saddled with debt)?
At least they have a rewards program.

Anyone ever going to jail for these schemes that now seem to be standard bu$ine$$ practice in AmeriKa?
