"A five-hour standoff between a Windsor man and police ended when the man shot himself inside his home early Saturday, Maine State Police said. Police say 36-year-old Wayne Bland fired more than a half dozen gun shots after police were called to his home Friday night by the man’s relatives, who said he was suicidal and had taken some pills. Police said they did not fire their weapons and negotiated with Bland over the phone. The standoff ended just after 2 a.m. Saturday when Bland shot himself in the face, came out of the house, and surrendered. He was taken to Maine General Medical Center in Augusta.
