How does Hamas benefit by pissing off its providers, and WHO DOES BENEFIT from this situation? WHO has been STARVING the people of Gaza with a seige?
Then again, maybe the whole thing never happened the way the lying, Zionist-controlled, Muslim-hating, Jewish Mafia War Daily said.
"Officials: Hamas seized UN Gaza aid; Thousands of food packages, blankets taken" by Diaa Hadid, Associated Press | February 5, 2009
JERUSALEM - Armed Hamas police broke into a Gaza warehouse packed with UN humanitarian supplies and seized thousands of blankets and food packages, officials said yesterday.
Just like they "seized" Gaza, right?
It was a rare public clash between the international agency that feeds much of the territory and the militant group that rules it. And the incident highlighted difficulties facing donors seeking to bypass Hamas while helping Gazans survive and rebuild after Israel's punishing military operation.
And WHO BENEFITS?
In New York, UN deputy spokeswoman Marie Okabe said UNRWA "condemned in the strongest terms" the confiscation of its aid supplies. The UN demanded the items be returned, but they remained with Hamas late yesterday.
Of course, now the U.N. won't be pursuing Israeli war crimes charges as vigorously, right? And CUI BONO, 'eh?
Hamas policemen stormed an aid warehouse in Gaza City Tuesday evening and confiscated 3,500 blankets and over 400 food parcels ready for distribution to 500 families, said United Nations Relief and Works Agency spokesman Christopher Gunness.
"They were armed. They seized this. They took it by force," Gunness said, terming the incident "absolutely unacceptable."
Of course, it is okay for Israel to use WMD and bomb U.N. building; that gets barely a whimper!
The seizure took place after UNRWA staff earlier refused to hand over the aid supplies to the Hamas-run Ministry of Social Affairs, he said. Similar aid packages were distributed to 70,000 residents over the past two weeks, Gunness said.
Once again, the U.N. exposes itself as a Zionist tool.
Ahmad Kurd, the Hamas official in charge of the ministry, did not deny the aid was seized, charging the UN was giving the aid to local groups with ties to Hamas opponents.
"UNRWA did not do what it said it would do, and began distributing its aid to groups that tie their activities to political activism," Kurd said, an apparent reference to Fatah, the main opponents of Hamas. In 2007, Hamas overran Gaza, expelling Fatah forces.
When they continually misrepresent what happened in Gaza in 2007 (Hamas turned back a Fatah coup), why should we believe them over anything?
Answer: I don't anymore. I no longer believe a word from the Zionist MSM no matter what they are accounting.
Ihab Ghussein, a spokesman for the Interior Ministry, said the incident occurred because the UN was storing the blankets in an unauthorized area. Hamas spokesman Taher Nunu demanded an apology from UNRWA, saying the group was "spreading false news."
I wouldn't be a bit surprised!
But control appeared to be at the heart of the issue. The ability of Hamas to provide aid is crucial to maintaining support for its rule in the territory. The group claims to have distributed $50 million in emergency cash relief since the end of the incursion.
Which is why Israel's U.N. servant is giving it to the other guy.
An 18-month blockade by Israel and Egypt left Gaza critically short of vital supplies, and residents are facing more hardship in the wake of Israel's devastating three-week military offense, which ended Jan. 18.
Yup, it's NEVER a SEIGE or INVASION!
The operation, aimed at halting rocket fire by Palestinian militants, killed 1,300 including hundreds of civilians and left thousands destitute after their homes were damaged or destroyed.
Notice how they saved Israel's toll of murder for the last paragraph? I shouldn't be complaining; I'm surprised they mentioned it at all.

Of course, Hamas will get a second day of thrashing over this, doncha know?
"UN halts aid to Gaza, charging theft
JERUSALEM - The UN agency for Palestinian refugees suspended aid to the Gaza Strip yesterday, accusing the territory's Hamas rulers of stealing a delivery of humanitarian supplies for the second time this week.
If only they were so upset over ISRAEL STEALING LAND, huh?
The announcement by the UN Relief and Works Agency deepened tensions between the international body that assists the majority of Gaza's 1.4 million people and the Islamic group that controls the coastal strip.
And CUI BONO, 'eh?
UN officials say Gaza's needs are especially dire in the wake of Israel's military offensive against Hamas, which killed nearly 1,300 people and displaced thousands. They said they would continue to distribute aid already in Gaza, but supplies are thin.
The relief agency said it halted aid deliveries after the Hamas-run Ministry of Social Affairs stole 10 truckloads of flour and rice delivered to Gaza on Thursday. Earlier this week, Hamas police took thousands of blankets and food parcels meant for needy residents, the UN said.
Which Hamas immediately gave to... needy residents.

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip - ....
In other developments, UN and Hamas officials met in Gaza late Friday, after Hamas police seized 10 trucks with UN aid shipments, including rice and flour. In response, the UN suspended aid shipments. Earlier in the week, Hamas police had seized thousands of blankets and food parcels earmarked for UN distribution to needy residents.
Ahmed Kurd, Hamas's minister of social affairs, said the UN trucks were not marked and Hamas officials believed the goods were sent by Egyptian charities, meant to be given straight to Hamas. UN officials said yesterday they would not lift their freeze on aid shipments until all 10 trucks were returned.
Some 80 percent of Gaza's 1.4 million people rely on the UN agency for food or other support. Their needs have increased after Israel's military operation. In Turkey, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas called for humanitarian aid for Palestinians, saying that aid shipments so far met only one-fifth of the actual need.
Yeah, where you been this last month, Abass?
