The Repugs in this state also wanted us to keep the income tax. This is why I never go to the meetings anymore (in addition to be treated as a red-headed step-child for the antiwar bit).
"Mass. offering tax amnesty to some" by Casey Ross, Globe Staff | February 24, 2009
If you owe back taxes to the state of Massachusetts, you might want to keep an even closer eye on your mail.
The Department of Revenue is planning to send amnesty offers to 159,000 tax delinquents, offering to waive penalties for those willing to pay their debts by April 30.
Awww, HOW NICE of them for GENEROUSLY OFFERING for us to PAY TAXES we SHOULDN'T BE PAYING in the FIRST PLACE!!!!!
The average penalty to be waived is about $779, according to the Department of Revenue. Penalties typically account for about 20 percent of a taxpayer's total outstanding tax debt. The state hopes to raise as much as $20 million to help offset budget woes.
Hey, HOLLYWOOD could take care of that in a COUPLE of WEEKS!!!!! Just RESCIND the TAXPAYER HAND-OUT!!!!
The offer covers unpaid taxes through 2007. It does not apply to businesses, and only those who receive the special amnesty tax bills will be eligible to participate in the program.
EXCUUUUUUUSSSSSSSE ME?
So it is UP the BUTT AGAIN for the INDIVIDUAL TAXPAYERS but NOT LOOTING BUSINESSES??
"This is an effort to encourage taxpayers to pay off what they owe us, so we can accelerate our tax collections," said state Revenue Commissioner Navjeet K. Bal. "It's money we've been chasing for awhile."
How about we accelerate your ass up a flag pole, you f***?
The amnesty program, part of a broader plan to reduce a $2 billion state budget deficit, was proposed by Republican lawmakers and approved by Governor Deval L. Patrick last month....
Oh, NO!!! The REPUGS of this state are JUST AS BAD as the DemocraPs!!!!!
Bal said the new amnesty is more limited because lawmakers wanted to make sure the money would be collected within the current fiscal year, which ends June 30.
State Senator Richard Tisei, a Wakefield Republican who helped write the amnesty bill, said it is necessary during times of economic distress. "It's a tough economy and people are having a difficult time paying their bills," he said. "So to the extent that people have a tax liability, it makes sense to give them an incentive to pay it."
Is that ORWELLIAN or what?
Yeah, they are ALREADY IN DIFFICULTY, so EITHER PAY or we will REALLY MAKE YOU PAY!! That's called a STATE "INCENTIVE!!!!"
Huh. Back where I come from, it's called EXTORTION and THREATS!!!!!!!
Looks like I HAVE NO HOME HERE, fellow Massachusetter!!!!
