"Storm could dump up to 8 inches of snow
Weather forecasters are warning residents of Central and Western Massachusetts that a winter storm is on the way that could dump as much as 8 inches of snow. The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for the areas yesterday, predicting that the storm could begin as early as 7 a.m. today and last until 1 a.m. tomorrow. Franklin and Hampshire counties are expected to receive 5 to 8 inches of snow. Northern Worcester and northwest Middlesex counties could see accumulations of 2 to 5 inches over the course of the day, the forecasters said. The Boston area will also see some snow, but meteorologists expect very little accumulation. The air will be warmer in Boston and snow in the morning is expected to turn to rain by midday, said Matthew Belk, a National Weather Service meteorologist.
