The Police State Murder of David Woodman
What if he were YOUR BOY, readers? Did he deserve to die?
And after checking out those links, check out the Globe's censorship.
"Files reveal confusion on night of fan's death; Parents assail official findings" by Shelley Murphy, Globe Staff | February 7, 2009
Twenty-two-year-old David Woodman clung to a wrought-iron fence on Brookline Avenue and flailed his arms as two Boston police officers struggled to arrest him for public drinking during last June's Celtics' championship celebration, according to police accounts in newly released investigative files.
"Let's take him to the ground," yelled one officer. About five officers helped tackle the 6-foot-1, 186-pound Emmanuel College student, and three held him down with their knees as he laid face down and was handcuffed behind his back.
They NEEDED THAT MANY for the SKINNY KID?
Woodman was "covered" by police after they knocked him to the ground, said one eyewitness, who was walking behind Woodman when he was arrested. The files, which were compiled by Suffolk District Attorney Daniel F. Conley and obtained by the Globe, offer the first detailed account of Woodman's confrontation with police on June 18.
Prosecutors, who turned the files over to Woodman's parents last week, say the accounts from witnesses, police, and medical specialists support their conclusion that police did not use excessive force against Woodman, who had a preexisting heart condition, suffered an arrhythmia while in police custody, and died days later.
It would help the police if they were not a bunch of cover-up liars.
You MURDERED a KID for NOTHING!! ADMIT IT!!!!
They say that police followed authorized techniques used to subdue a suspect who actively resists arrest and that medical reports indicated that he did not suffer any injuries associated with blunt force trauma. But Woodman's parents, Cathy and Jeffrey Woodman of Southwick, and their lawyer say the files hold conflicting accounts showing that police and prosecutors did not thoroughly examine what happened that night.
They contended that officers offered different versions of how Woodman was forced to the ground, saying he was "tackled," "guided," or "ended up falling." And they say investigators failed to question most of the officers about how Woodman suffered scrapes on his face and a deep gash on his chin.
"I would challenge any parent to just be satisfied with a report that just seems unbelievable," said Cathy Woodman, a secretary and mother of three other children.
I agree!!
Cathy and Jeffrey Woodman visited the site yesterday where their son, David, was arrested and lay unconscious before his death last June.
"I miss him," she said, clutching a wet tissue.
Wouldn't you miss your boy, Americans?
He was CELEBRATING the CELTICS WIN fer cryin' out loud!
"It is a shoddy investigation," said Boston lawyer Howard Friedman, who represents the Woodmans. "It seemed to be aimed at showing the officers didn't do anything wrong, not at finding out what happened."
They all are like that!
****************
Yesterday, First Assistant Suffolk District Attorney Joshua Wall and Boston police Lieutenant Detective Robert Merner, who spearheaded the investigation into Woodman's arrest, said investigators are confident they know what happened, based on a thorough and fair investigation. They say evidence from witnesses and medical experts indicates officers used necessary, legal, and reasonable force.
Merner said the officers' stories were consistent. He said the fact that they used different descriptions made it apparent that they did not get together beforehand, as Friedman had suggested, and rehearse their stories.
"To describe the investigation as shoddy is so grossly inaccurate as to call into question the judgment or motives of the person making the statement," he said.
By one of his own friend's account, Woodman was cocky, even antagonistic, as he made a snide remark while strolling by nine police officers at the intersection of Fenway and Brookline Avenue.
Gee, that is NOT the way the Globe reported it at the time!!!! WTF?
And for the "snide" remark the KID deserved to have his FACE SPLATTERED AGAINST the PAVEMENT by NINE COPS?!!
The GLOBE PROVES what a POLICE-STATE SHIT RAG they are with this type of "journalism."
He was on his way back to his Brookline apartment with several friends at around 12:30 a.m. after watching the Celtics game at a local bar.
Do me a favor, folks; boycott the damn Celtics!
Officer Michael McManus, who was among the nine officers assigned to crowd control in the Kenmore Square area, told investigators later that he heard Woodman say something like, "Thank God . . . you guys are fighting crime here," according to the reports. McManus said he and another officer then noticed Woodman was carrying a plastic cup of beer.
Why the UNENDING LIES, MSM?
"We watched the police unload from buses. They were in riot gear, with batons and shields. There were hundreds and hundreds of them, and I looked around and said, 'Is this really necessary?'.... People were high-fiving each other. They weren't fighting. It was not a hostile crowd. But the police kept pouring off the buses, and they were very aggressive and very hostile, and I was thinking, 'Do they really need this many cops?' And I was thinking, is this going to make things better or worse?"
It made things worse for David Woodman. He mouthed off walking past a group of cops, with a beer in his hand. Woodman said what Jim Rufo was thinking: that it seemed like there were an awful lot of cops around.... experiencing something that felt like a police state"
He said Woodman kept walking despite being repeatedly ordered to stop. When McManus caught up and grabbed his hand, Woodman took another sip of beer and tossed the cup, splashing both of them.
And FOR THAT he needed to be KILLED!!!
McManus said Woodman put up a "violent struggle" to avoid being handcuffed, prompting him and other officers to force him down to handcuff him.
LIES!! ALL LIES!!!!
Michael Vieira, who did not know Woodman but witnessed the confrontation while walking behind him, said Woodman appeared "completely shocked" when police approached him from behind. He said Woodman did not flail his arms, but struggled to avoid being handcuffed.
Vieira's friend, Ashleigh L'Heureux, said Woodman was "probably tensing up" when police tried to cuff him and did resist arrest, but more with words. She said he said something like: "Come on. What are you doing? Why are you doing this? This is nothing."
Officers gave various accounts of what happened next, saying Woodman was "tackled," "guided," or "ended up falling" to the ground during the confrontation. But three eyewitnesses who did not know Woodman later told police investigators that he was thrown, pushed, or "forcefully" knocked to the ground. And one of Woodman's friends contended that he was lifted off his feet and "slammed" down.
McManus said he emerged from the struggle with blood from Woodman's chin on his hand, but did not know whether Woodman was injured before or after his confrontation with police. None of the other eight officers involved in the arrest was asked about the facial injuries, according to the reports.
BLOOD on your HANDS, 'eh, KILLER COP?
How APPROPRIATE!! Something you can NEVER WASH OFF!!!
Conley, citing the medical examiner's finding that there were "superficial abrasions" on Woodman's face, concluded that he was injured when his face scraped the pavement.
Maybe you wouldn't mind me rubbing your face on the tar a bit, you shit DA!!!!
Friedman said he was shocked that investigators didn't question all of the officers about the scrapes on Woodman's face and the gash on his chin. Friedman said police may have purposely scraped Woodman's face on the pavement as "street justice" for making a smart remark. But yesterday, Merner said all of the officers reported that they never struck Woodman.
Keep digging that hole of lies, fascista!
Wall said investigators looked into whether Woodman's facial scrapes were caused by excessive force and concluded they were not. "There's not one scintilla of evidence that anyone ground his face in the pavement," he said. Woodman's friends and the other eyewitnesses say police ordered them to leave the area or face arrest themselves.
But THEY DIDN'T DO NUTHIN' WRONG!!!
Police officers said Woodman initially was yelling and moaning while on the ground. Officer Stephen Borne said Woodman was saying: "Why did you do this? I didn't do anything wrong."
Officers said they attempted to get Woodman to his feet to bring him to a police wagon, but he was staggering and they returned him to the ground.
"As I was watching and observing him, I noticed that his chest was not rising adequately," said Borne, who had previously worked as an emergency medical technician. He said Woodman was immediately uncuffed, and it was determined he had no pulse. Borne said he began performing mouth-to-mouth resuscitation while McManus administered chest compressions.
Police, who had initially called for an ambulance for an intoxicated person, upgraded the call to an emergency request for aid for a person in cardiac arrest.
Translation: the COPS were PANICKING NOW!!!
Two off-duty emergency medical technicians from the Boston Fire Department said they arrived while the police were performing CPR, but told them to stop chest compressions after finding Woodman had a pulse.
I view that "testimony" as a cock-and-bull cover-up piece!
But less than a minute later, when the first ambulance arrived at the scene after being flagged down by police, Woodman had no pulse. Paramedics and EMTS resumed treatment, and a Cataldo Ambulance rushed Woodman was rushed to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where he had significant brain damage from lack of oxygen.
All nine police officers involved in Woodman's arrest went to the hospital for stress treatment. The two who had performed CPR had been advised by an emergency medical technician to seek treatment, according to the reports.
Yeah, MURDERING SOMEONE is STRESSFUL!!
An independent medical specialist found that Woodman, who underwent heart surgery as a child, was at risk of an arrhythmia at any time. But, his parents say he lived an active lifestyle and had never had one before.
"Do I believe that this confrontation with police could have pushed [his heart] into overload? I do," said Cathy Woodman. "That's why we're asking, was it necessary?"My heart goes out to this family. How horrible, on a night that should have contained happy memories.
