"Afghan support for US efforts flags" by Wahington Post | February 10, 2009

WASHINGTON - A new poll in Afghanistan shows sagging support for US efforts in that country, with air strikes a chief concern. A quarter of Afghans say attacks on American or allied forces are justifiable, double the proportion saying so in late 2006.

Ya think?

The poll, the fourth conducted by ABC News and other media partners in Afghanistan since 2005, also shows plummeting support for President Hamid Karzai and the Afghan government and a sharp decline in the proportion who said the nation is heading in the right direction.

Now I KNOW the poll is shit, and the Afghanis sound JUST LIKE US!!!!

The vast majority of people there consider public corruption to be a problem, and there are widespread complaints about the availability of jobs and electricity and concerns about prices. But it's security concerns that galvanize public opinion most directly.

In the new poll, the proportion of Afghans rating their security positively dipped to 55 percent from 72 percent in 2005, and views of the direction of the country declined in parallel. Seventy percent of those who said the nation is off on the wrong track cited security as a central concern.

At the same time, ratings of US forces have declined precipitously; 32 percent said the US and coalition forces are performing well, down from 68 percent in 2005. And fewer than half, 42 percent, have confidence in coalition forces to provide security in their areas.

Despite the negative turn in public views, most Afghans continue to say the US-led invasion and the ouster of the Taliban were good things for their country, and most want US troops to stay.

Really?

Who are the Taliban, anyway?

"Something of a catchall term for loosely affiliated insurgents without a singular command structure. Often, the Afghan government favors the phrase 'enemies of the state' (New York Times July 24, 2007)."

"
The Taliban is growing and creating new alliances not because its sectarian religious practices have become popular, but because it is the only available umbrella for national liberation," says Pakistani historian and political commentator Tariq Ali. "As the British and the Soviets discovered to their cost in the preceding two centuries, Afghans never like being occupied."

Afghanistan's Other Government

And today, readers?

"More and more, people here look back to the era of harsh Taliban rule from 1996 to 2001, describing it as a time of security and
peace."

Oh, oh, oh!!!! I'm so offended by the AmeriKan MSM and its bullshit!

Oh, one more thing:

"The U.S. government was well aware of the Taliban's reactionary program, yet it chose to back their rise to power in the mid-1990s. The creation of the Taliban was "actively encouraged by the ISI and the CIA," according to Selig Harrison, an expert on U.S. relations with Asia. "The United States encouraged Saudi Arabia and Pakistan to support the Taliban, certainly right up to their advance on Kabul," adds respected journalist Ahmed Rashid. When the Taliban took power, State Department spokesperson Glyn Davies said that he saw "nothing objectionable" in the Taliban's plans to impose strict Islamic law, and Senator Hank Brown, chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on the Near East and South Asia, welcomed the new regime: "The good part of what has happened is that one of the factions at last seems capable of developing a new government in Afghanistan." "The Taliban will probably develop like the Saudis. There will be Aramco [the consortium of oil companies that controlled Saudi oil], pipelines, an emir, no parliament and lots of Sharia law. We can live with that," said another U.S. diplomat in 1997."

Fucking liars!!!!!!!!!!

The poll was conducted by the Afghan Center for Socio-Economic and Opinion Research in Kabul for ABC News, the BBC and ARD German television.

Well, you know where you can deposit that poll (sound of oilet flushing)!

And if the Afghans want us to stay, then why do the MILITARY FAMILIES want OUT?

"Mullen caps US troops to Afghanistan" by Associated Press | February 10, 2009

FORT DRUM, N.Y. - .... Joint Chiefs Chairman Admiral Mike Mullen also called US efforts in Iraq a success, even though "we're not done."

Mullen, speaking to fresh-faced soldiers and war-weary military wives, sought to boost morale and soothe concerns at the Army base that has seen a constant revolving door of troops sent to Iraq and Afghanistan over the last eight years.

And NO END in SIGHT!!!

Even the Congress shitters are getting cold feet!

"Antiwar lawmakers wary of adding troops in Afghanistan; Some want to see clear exit strategy before escalation" by Anne Flaherty, Associated Press | February 9, 2009

WASHINGTON - After campaigning on the promise to end one war, President Obama is preparing to escalate another.

Obama's dual stance on the two wars is not lost on congressional Democrats, many of whom also ran on antiwar platforms. In coming weeks, they expect to consider tens of billions of dollars needed for combat, including a major buildup of troops in Afghanistan.

And he'll get it!

While increasing the military's focus in Afghanistan was expected - it was a major theme of Obama's campaign - many Democrats acknowledged in recent interviews that they are worried about sending more troops, even in small numbers. The concern, they say, is that the military could become further entrenched in an unwinnable war on their watch.

Oh. It's NOT about PEACE, the TRUTH, or doing the right thing -- it's about our war-fighting capabilities! So when's the WWIII, assholes?

"Before I support any more troops to Afghanistan, I want to see a strategy that includes an exit plan," said Representative Jim McGovern, Democrat of Massachusetts, who at one point wanted to cut off money for the Iraq war.

Yeah, so WHAT HAPPENED, betrayer?

Senator Russ Feingold, Democrat of Wisconsin and a fierce war opponent, added: "The idea of putting the troops in without having more clarity at least gives me pause."

And then he votes to it!!!

*****************

Afghanistan is one of the poorest countries in the world. Drug trafficking and corruption are rampant.

Yeah, and WE KNOW WHY!! Taliban nearly eliminated that shit -- which is why Afghanistan needed invading and occupying!!!

Terrorist fighters move freely across the Pakistan border. European voters want their armies to leave.

SO DO AMERICANS!!!

"The complexities just mount - and you have to bring yourself back to what I hope we're going to ask, which is 'what is the goal?' " Representative John Tierney, Democrat of Massachusetts, said after returning from his third trip to Afghanistan.

"You've got to look at these kids' parents in the face when you go to a funeral and say, 'This is why your kid was killed in action,' " said Tierney, who chairs a national security subcommittee.

Oh, he's not against mass-murdering warfare because its the right thing to do; he;'s only against it because it makes him UNCOMFORTABLE at the FUNERAL!!!

How SICKENING!!!!

And is the U.S. getting cold feet?

"Decision on Afghan buildup in 'days'" by ASSOCIATED PRESS | February 11, 2009

WASHINGTON - President Obama is days away from approving a new Afghanistan troop buildup, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said yesterday, as the new administration confronts a worsening war and the prospect of fiercer fighting in the spring.

Obama is likely to send additional forces to the Afghan battle even before concluding a wide review of US strategy and goals there, in part because time is short to have new units in place for the expected increase in fighting that comes with warmer weather....

Gates suggested, as have other officials, that the ground commander in Afghanistan would eventually get all the forces he has asked for, but no more....

"I worry a lot about the size of the foreign military footprint in Afghanistan," he said.

Well, just in case 'bamer is having any doubts:

"Militants attack buildings of government in Kabul" by By Amir Shah and Rahim Faiez, Associated Press | February 11, 2009

KABUL -- Assailants, some wearing suicide vests, attacked the Justice Ministry and another government building in the Afghan capital this morning, causing multiple deaths and forcing people to flee from building windows, officials and witnesses said. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attacks.

Better HUSTLE THOSE TROOPS OVER, 'bamer!!!!

At least five men armed with assault rifles and grenades attacked the Justice Ministry in the center of Kabul, said Mohammad Ali, a ministry employee. Two assailants died in the ensuing firefight with security officers, while the others were still holed up in the building.

That's some suicide mission.

Why is the false-flag attack in Mumbai coming to mind?

Ministry workers fled the building through the windows on the second floor as the shooting continued. Witnesses said three other people were killed....

Another suicide bomber attacked the ministry's corrections department in another part of the town, said police officer Zulmay Khan. There were no details on casualties from that attack. The siege of the ministry follows a lull in major attacks inside the capital. The Taliban regularly use suicide bombings....

Even though it was never part of their culture. Something stinks, readers!

Honestly, I'm doubting anything the Zionist War Media tells us about the Middle East or Muslims.

When they TELL LIES about the TRIVIAL THINGS what makes you think they are telling the truth about the BIG THINGS?
