No one knows....

"Senate OKs tax break for new-car buyers; Estimated $1,553 savings on $25K auto; But stimulus price tag soars" by Associated Press And Globe Staff | February 4, 2009

No offense, but WITHOUT ANY JOBS....

This just another BREAK for the WEALTHY, ain't it?

WASHINGTON - The Senate voted yesterday to give a tax break to new-car buyers, setting aside bipartisan concerns over the size of an economic stimulus bill with a price tag approaching $900 billion.

The 71-to-26 vote to add the tax break came as President Obama signaled opposition to congressional attempts to insert "buy American" provisions into the legislation, saying in one of a series of television interviews that "we can't send a protectionist message."

Meet Obama W. Clinton the globalist!

Senator Barbara Mikulski, a Maryland Democrat, led the successful effort to help the beleaguered auto industry by allowing many car buyers to claim an income tax deduction for sales taxes paid on new autos and interest payments on car loans. "I believe we can help by getting the consumer into the showroom," she said....

Without a job?

Senate Republicans pushed through an amendment to remove a tax break for movie producers....

What is it about Democrats and Hollywood subsidies, 'eh?

A new Gallup poll released yesterday suggested why the White House is selling the plan anew to the public - the survey shows that the recovery package is far less popular than Obama himself. According to the poll, 38 percent of Americans want the recovery package passed as is, 37 percent want major changes, and 17 percent want Congress to reject it entirely....

But they will shove it down our throats like the bailout bill.

Btw, after the bailout looting, those "poll" numbers can't be right.

See what I mean about the LYING, AGENDA-PUSHING, OPINION-SHAPING MSM?

Here is ANOTHER TAX BREAK you CAN'T USE, America:

"Senate approves homebuyer tax break; Hopes to jolt industry with 10% credits" by David Espo, Associated Press | February 5, 2009

WASHINGTON - The Senate voted last night to give a tax break of as much as $15,000 to homebuyers in hopes of revitalizing the housing industry, a victory for Republicans eager to leave their mark on a mammoth economic stimulus bill at the heart of President Obama's recovery plan.

How about PAYING OFF SOME MORTGAGES FIRST?

So ANOTHER TAX BREAK for the RICHERS, 'eh?

The tax break was adopted without dissent, and came on a day in which Obama pushed back pointedly against Republican critics of the legislation even as he reached across party lines to consider scaling back spending.

"Let's not make the perfect the enemy of the essential," Obama said as Senate Republicans stepped up their criticism of the bill's spending and pressed for additional tax cuts and relief for homeowners. He warned that failure to act quickly "will turn crisis into a catastrophe and guarantee a longer recession."

He sounds just like Hank Paulson (as I reach for my wallet)!

And how does he know that? What if it destroys our dollar and makes things worse?

Democratic leaders have pledged to have legislation ready for Obama's signature by the end of next week, and they concede privately they will have to accept some spending reductions along the way.

They didn't make it.

Senator Johnny Isakson, a Georgia Republican, said the homebuyers tax break was intended to help revive the housing industry, which has virtually collapsed in the wake of a credit crisis that began last fall.

Too bad that credit crisis was done on purpose, huh?

The proposal would allow a tax credit of 10 percent of the value of new or existing residences, up to a $15,000 limit. Current law provides for a $7,500 tax break for the purchase of new homes only. Isakson's office said the proposal would cost the government an estimated $19 billion.

Democrats readily agreed to the proposal, although it may be changed or even deleted as the stimulus measure makes its way through Congress over the next 10 days or so....

Then WHY the FANFARE and WASTED PRINT SPACE? Pffffttt!

WASHINGTON - President Obama and Senate Republicans bickered yesterday over his historically huge economic recovery plan after states and schools lost tens of billions of dollars in a late-night bargain to save it.

Are you surprised, America? I'm not.

The $827 billion measure is on track to pass the Senate Tuesday despite stiff opposition from the GOP and disappointment among Democrats, including the new president who labeled it imperfect. Next up: difficult negotiations between the House and Senate, which are divided over spending for tax cuts, education and aid for local governments....

The popular president - six in 10 voters approve of his performance so far - scolded Republicans with a pointed reminder that Democrats, not Republicans, were victorious in November....

So Sig Heil and step back, opponents of the dear leader!

The compromise reached between a handful of GOP moderates, the White House, and its Senate allies stripped $108 billion in spending from Obama's plan, including cutbacks in projects that would be likely to give the economy a quick lift, like $40 billion in aid to state governments for education and other programs.

So this is ANOTHER $800 BILLION GIVEAWAY to CORPORATIONS, isn't it?

Yet it retained items that also probably won't help the economy much, such as $650 million to help people without cable receive digital signals through their old-fashioned televisions or $1 billion to fix problems with the 2010 Census.

Unreal!

Among the most difficult cuts for the White House and its liberal allies to accept was the elimination of $40 billion in aid to states, money that economists say is a relatively efficient way to pump up the economy by preventing layoffs, cuts in services or tax increases....

Yeah, FUCK the PEOPLE!!!!

Still, the bill retains the core of Obama's plan, designed to ease the worst economic recession in generations by combining hundreds of billions of dollars in spending to boost consumption by the public sector, along with tax cuts designed to increase consumer spending....

Translation: the pro-corporate, pro-tax giveaway paper is still in favor.

While publicly supportive of the bill, White House officials and top Democrats said they were disappointed that so much money was cut, including almost $20 billion for construction and repair of schools and university facilities. Those funds would have supported many construction jobs.

The $827 billion package debated in the Senate yesterday included Obama's signature tax cut of up to $1,000 for working couples. Also included is a tax credit of up to $15,000 for homebuyers and smaller breaks for people buying new cars.

How they gonna buy those things with no jobs?

Much of the new spending would be for victims of the recession, in the form of extending unemployment insurance through the end of the year and increasing benefits by $25 a week, free or subsidized health care, and increased food stamp payments.

We want JOBS not DEPENDENCY on the GOVERNMENT, dammit!!!!

Obama himself acknowledged that the bill was far from perfect but said it would be too dangerous to leave it lifeless on the table.

"In the midst of our greatest economic crisis since the Great Depression, the American people were hoping that Congress would begin to confront the great challenges we face," Obama said in the address, released before he made his first trip to Camp David, the presidential retreat in the Maryland mountains. "That was, after all, what last November's election was all about," he said.

There he goes again!!!

Obama made an aggressive push for House and Senate lawmakers to work quickly to resolve their differences. The White House plans a major public relations blitz: A prime-time news conference tomorrow, several trips outside Washington this week, and an address to a joint session of Congress this month....

This is change?
