"Days after ethnic clashes, chaos and protests continue in China" by Ariana Eunjung Cha, Washington Post | July 8, 2009

URUMQI, China - Chaos and panic spread throughout the capital of the far western region of Xinjiang yesterday, two days after ethnic clashes between the region’s Muslim Uighur minority and the dominant Han Chinese in the city’s bazaar left more than 150 dead and more than 1,000 injured.

Despite the ubiquitous presence of police and paramilitary troops, security checkpoints, the closure of mosques, a curfew, and the detention of more than 1,400 people the government deemed instigators of the rioting, pockets of unrest broke out all over the central part of city.

President Hu Jintao is flying back to Beijing and will miss this week’s G8 summit in Italy, Italian news agency Ansa said today.

Hmmmmmmmmm!

So WHY would the WEST want to CUT CHINA OUT of its MEETINGS, 'eh?

In the early morning, a group of several hundred mostly female Uighur protesters in headscarves gathered to demand that their detained husbands and brothers be released and their dead accounted for.

Strange how such things are ACCEPTABLE to the Zionist MSM in SOME PLACES but NOT others! Also waiting for that article on GAZA, MSM.

At midday, Uighur and Han Chinese men traded blows at the train station until riot police dispersed them with tear gas. In the late afternoon, hundreds of Han Chinese men armed with everyday items such as kitchen knives, shovels, hammers, and pipes began smashing Uighur food stalls and stores and headed to a local mosque.

At around the same time, the No. 2 People’s Hospital was under siege as protesters demanding the bodies of the dead, which have not yet been released to the families, clashed with police who fired warning shots at the crowd.

Zhao Zongyu, a 45-year-old shoe seller who is Han Chinese, said yesterday that he witnessed dozens of Han Chinese beating up about five young Uighurs for the simple reason that the attackers felt they were being “too happy and arrogant.’’

We'll torture them for you.

He said he was worried that some of his colleagues believe it is time to pay back the Uighur rioters for the damage caused on Sunday. The continuing violence underscored the extent of the mistrust between Uighurs and Han Chinese and how close the city remains to another major bloody clash.

And CUI BONO?

Sunday’s conflict was set off by a vicious Internet rumor that led to the death of two Xinjiang Uighurs in southern China, where they were working at a toy factory.

As opposed to AmeriKa's agenda-pushing, war-promoting newspapers starting wars based on lies.

A Han Chinese man who had been upset about Uighurs taking his job posted on the Web that some Uighur men had raped two Han Chinese women - setting off a fight in the factory’s dormitories.

Will they cover this rebellion tomorrow while continuing to ignore the Pakistan slaughter?

Stay tuned, readers.
