Globe Gives Ron Paul a Hearing

Better than the last piece, although....

"Bernanke also argued against congressional proposals to let the Government Accountability Office, Congress’s investigative arm, audit the central bank. He feared that audits that delve into the Fed’s interest-rate decisions could compromise its independence.

Representative Ron Paul, a Texas Republican and a frequent Fed critic, rejected that argument and said the Fed already makes political calculations: “Just the fact that [the Fed] can issue a lot of loans and special privileges to banks and corporations. That’s political.’’
