When Was the Last Time You Heard About.... Kenya?

I mean BEFORE the current flurry of activity regarding Obama and his visit.

"Kenyan forces accused of brutalities" by Associated Press | June 30, 2009

NAIROBI, Kenya - Kenyan security forces tortured hundreds of civilians and raped at least a dozen women during a three-day operation to disarm militias in the country’s remote northeast last year, a rights group alleged yesterday.

New York-based Human Rights Watch urged an inquiry into the operation in the Mandera region, a desolate and violent area near the borders of Kenya, Somalia, and Ethiopia.

“Instead of protecting Mandera’s residents, the military and police systematically beat and tortured them,’’ said Kenneth Roth, executive director of Human Rights Watch.

Hello, Obama? Hello? Oh, they ain't Iran and they are an ally, I see!

Kenya’s government spokesman, Alfred Mutua, dismissed the allegations. “They never come to us for our side of the story,’’ Mutua said. “We don’t know where they get this information from.’’

So I can't believe Human Rights Watch now?

Interclan fighting and cross-border raids kill dozens of people every year in Mandera, which suffers from poverty, unemployment, drought, and competition over grazing land. The region’s proximity to Somalia means there has been a proliferation of weapons flowing into villages.

The WHOLE REGION is a HELLHOLE and WE KNOW WHY!

"Vadim Alperin was once quoted to be a "Mossad brother" running a number of clandestine front companies including one Kenyan Meat export company enjoying "good trade" with middle eastern countries covertly used for gathering intelligence from countries such as Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabia"

Yeah, and RUNNING WEAPONS, too!

"Some US officials fear the cargo aboard the MV Faina, which was seized by pirates Thursday, could end up in the hands of Al Qaeda-linked militants in Somalia.... But US officials, arms analysts, and maritime officials say the more likely original destination was southern Sudan, where the former rebel group Sudan Peoples' Liberation Movement, now governs an autonomous region...."

Human Rights Watch called on the government of Kenya to prosecute those responsible.

And when they don't, then what?
