LOS ANGELES - Two veteran firefighters who died trying to save the lives of dozens trapped in the largest wildfire in Los Angeles County history were remembered as heroes yesterday in a memorial service at a sun-dappled Dodger Stadium attended by Vice President Joe Biden.
Captain Tedmund “Ted’’ Hall and Firefighter Specialist Arnaldo “Arnie’’ Quinones were killed Aug. 30 when their truck plunged off a mountain road as they were trying to find an escape route for dozens of inmate-firefighters whose camp had become overrun by flames....

Firefighters are still battling to contain the wildfire....
The blaze, which destroyed more than 80 homes and ravaged a 250-square-mile stretch of national forest, is now 84 percent contained. It is expected to be fully contained by Tuesday.
Investigators still have not determined who set the fire Aug. 26 and are continuing to review tips from the public. Last week, the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, the lead investigative agency, assigned six more homicide detectives to case, bringing the total to 10....

IRWINDALE, Calif. - The wildfire burning in Southern California’s Angeles National Forest won’t be fully contained until Sept. 19, four days later than previously announced, officials said yesterday.
I'm going on the premise that it won't really be contained. The MSM and government just wants to get the horror out of the news. Fires are an ALL YEAR THING now! The only reason it flares up is because the rich are threatened.
Tom Debellis, a US Forest Service spokesman, said crews are watching for flare-ups along the 120-mile perimeter of the massive fire north of Los Angeles, which has burned more than 250 square miles. The arson blaze is 84 percent contained. Debellis said more firefighters are being sent home every day....
Investigators still have not found a suspect in the fire that erupted Aug. 26.
I doubt they ever will.
The fire’s single point of origin has been traced to an area near an oak tree at the bottom of a steep ravine next to a curvy mountain road. Investigators reportedly found some kind of incendiary substance but have not disclosed more information. They ruled out lightning as a cause.
