You may soon find out, thanks to an effort underway to illuminate the US Capitol dome with more energy-efficient lighting.
So, WHICH WELL-CONNECTED SPECIAL INTEREST is in line for the TAX LOOT we DON'T HAVE? Yeah, just STEER US INTO MORE DEBT, Congress. After all, that's who you are working for.
The project stems from a push by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Democrat of California, to make Congress a shining example of environmental responsibility. But like many projects in Washington, it is not without controversy. Republicans say the $1 million-plus price tag is too costly at a time of record federal budget deficits.
Jeff Ventura, a spokesman for the House chief administrative officer, said the lighting project has “far less to do with saving money in the short term on our energy bill . . . but has everything to do with setting a bold energy-saving example for the rest of the country.’’

President Obama, who has made climate control a high priority, initially proposed the government sale of all of the permits. The House did not follow that path, however, and Obama has shown flexibility, praising the House-passed bill but leaving the door open to change.
Yeah, it's a different "high priority" every day as the agenda is driven at you left, right, center, and behind (literally drilled there), 'murkn.
It is not clear whether the full Senate will pass a bill this year, although Democratic leaders say they will try in October. Obama wants as much progress on climate change legislation as possible by December, when a United Nations meeting in Copenhagen will discuss new global efforts to tackle the environmental problem.
