While Obama Was Away

Look at what he missed!

"While the president out of town, thousands of people marched along Pennsylvania Avenue to the Capitol to protest Obama’s approach on health care and what they say is out-of-control federal spending."

And then they went home.

Wow, that SURE IS a LOT of PEOPLE!

WASHINGTON - Tens of thousands of protesters fed up with government spending marched to the Capitol yesterday....

It's not just that; it's damn near everything.

The line of protesters clogged several blocks, according to the D.C. Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency. Demonstrators chanted “Enough! Enough!’’ and “We the people!’’ Others yelled “You lie, you lie!’’ and “Pelosi has to go,’’ referring to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Democrat of California.

Throngs of people waved US flags and held signs reading “Go Green Recycle Congress’’ and “I’m not your ATM.’’ Men wore Colonial costumes as they listened to speakers who warned of “judgment day’’ - Election Day 2010.

Not that it really matters much. Just a different wing on the War party.

Other signs - reflecting the growing intensity of the health care debate - depicted President Obama with the signature mustache of Adolf Hitler. Many made reference to Obama as a socialist or communist, and another imposed his face on that of the villainous Joker from “Batman.’’

What I've noticed is if it is an agenda-pushing protest approved by the MSM (think global-warmers, gays, illegal immigrants, and any other agenda-supporting movement) it is described in glowing fashion, very festive. If it is a protest frowned upon by the agenda-pushing MSM (think antiwar or tea party protests), they denigrate it. I think you just got your answer about this one.

Richard Brigle, 57, a Vietnam War veteran and former Teamster, came from Paw Paw, Mich. He said health care has to be reformed - but not according to Obama’s plan. “My grandkids are going to be paying for this. It’s going to cost too much money that we don’t have,’’ he said while marching, bracing himself with a wooden cane as he walked.

Notice how we always have plenty for banks and wars?

FreedomWorks Foundation, a conservative organization led by Dick Armey, a former House majority leader, organized several groups from across the country for what they billed as a “March on Washington.’’ Other sponsors of the rally include the Heartland Institute, Americans for Tax Reform, and the Ayn Rand Center for Individuals Rights.

Thus it must be tainted.

Organizers say they built on momentum from the April “tea party’’ demonstrations held nationwide to protest tax policies, along with growing resentment over the economic stimulus packages and bank bailouts....

Many protesters said they paid their own way to the event - an ethic they believe should be applied to the government....

Absolutely!

Yeah, how come we can't have their plan?

Terri Hall, 45, of Starke, Fla., said she felt compelled to become political for the first time this year because she was upset by government spending. “Our government has lost sight of the powers they were granted,’’ she said. She added that the deficit spending was out of control, and said she thought it was putting the country at risk.

Race also became an issue....

Even though it has NOTHING TO DO WITH IT! It is the POLICY!!!!

Lawmakers also supported the rally....

Oh, really? They must be real haters then, huh?

Just wondering why the Globe website posted a different piece:

"At Capitol, tens of thousands protest Obama’s initiatives" by Emma Brown and James Hohmann, Associated Press | September 13, 2009

WASHINGTON - Tens of thousands of conservative protesters, many complaining that the nation is racing toward socialism, massed outside the US Capitol yesterday, angrily denouncing President Obama’s health care plan and other initiatives as threats to the Constitution.

Oh, I see. The HATCHET needed to be SHARPENED!

The crowd - loud, animated, and sprawling - gathered at the West Front of the Capitol after a march along Pennsylvania Avenue. Invocations of God and former President Ronald Reagan by an array of speakers drew loud cheers that echoed across the Mall. On a windy, overcast afternoon, hundreds of yellow “Don’t Tread on Me’’ flags flapped in the breeze....

The demonstrators are part of a loose-knit movement that is galvanizing anti-Obama sentiment across the country, stoking a populist dimension to the Republican Party....

A growing number of GOP leaders are... seeing the political possibilities of latching onto this freewheeling coalition.

Yeah, it's JUST POLITICS! Couldn't be principle or anything!

Others are cautious about embracing views that can be seen as extremist.

No official crowd estimate was available, but yesterday’s throng appeared to number in the many tens of thousands. The sound system did not reach far enough for people at the edges of the rally to hear the speakers onstage....

Then it was a MASSIVE RALLY!

Democrats said the rally and other protests in recent months represent a small minority of voters and will not slow Obama’s proposals.

You better WATCH the ARROGANCE, dems!

Yesterday’s demonstrators spanned the spectrum of conservative anger at Obama, including opponents of his tax, spending, and health care plans, and protesters who question his US citizenship and compare his administration to the Nazi regime.

Most signs were handmade: “Socialism is UnAmerican,’’ “King George Didn’t Listen Either!’’ “Terrorists Won’t Destroy America, Congress Will!’’ and “The American Dream R.I.P.’’

So you KNOW it is a GRASS ROOTS EFFORT!
