Yemen Policy Plays Out

All over LIES!

"Yemen investigates Nigerian’s contact with Al Qaeda militants; Nation says US failed to share data on man" by Ahmed Al-Haj, Associated Press | December 30, 2009

SANA, Yemen - People at the school who knew Abdulmutallab said he was not openly extremist, though he expressed anger over Israel’s actions against Palestinians in Gaza.

Well, EVERYONE FEELS THAT!!

Nothing extreme about being angry at that stinking stain of the Middle East.

The possibility that he was involved with militants in Yemen has heightened concerns about the largely lawless country that has become an Al Qaeda stronghold. Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, a group formed in January when operatives from Saudi Arabia and Yemen merged, claimed responsibility Monday for the attempted attack on the Detroit-bound airliner....

The claim of responsibility could alter the administration’s counterterrorism policy in Yemen....

And CUI BONO, huh?

It could raise the question of whether the United States would have to take more direct action, possibly including a retaliatory military strike. The National Security Council is expected to review the Yemen policy soon....

Translation: the plans were already written.

The attempted bombing has raised uncertainty in Congress about President Obama’s plans to shut down the Guantanamo facility....

Yeah, it is ONE CUI BONO after another, huh?

"US sends 12 Guantanamo detainees home" by Associated Press | December 21, 2009

WASHINGTON - The United States has transferred a dozen Guantanamo detainees to Afghanistan, Yemen, and Somalia’s Somaliland region as the Obama administration continues to move captives out of the facility in Cuba in preparation for its closure....

Now, not!

Over the weekend, four Afghan detainees were transferred to Afghanistan. Two Somali detainees were transferred to authorities in Somaliland, the semi-autonomous northern region of Somalia. Six Yemeni detainees also were sent home.

Yup, that will never happen again.

The Justice Department said that more than 560 detainees have departed the military prison in Cuba since 2002, and that 198 remain....

Yeah, and they are ALL INNOCENT!

President Obama said that he will not set a new deadline for closing the Guantanamo Bay military prison, but that he does expect the facility to shut down sometime next year.

Now, NOT!

]The administration has abandoned the January 2010 deadline Obama set for closure soon after taking office. Obama has said he realized that things move more slowly in Washington than he expected.

WTF is he talking about? He was a SENATOR! Nothing moves slower than them (unless they want a health tax).

Must you KEEP LYING TO US, sir?

Meanwhile, OVER THERE:

"Yemeni forces raid Al Qaeda hide-out, vow to wipe out terrorists; 14 are reported dead in fighting" by Ahmed Al-Haj, Associated Press | December 31, 2009

SANA, Yemen - Yemeni forces raided an Al Qaeda hide-out and set off a gun battle yesterday as the government vowed to eliminate the group that claimed responsibility for the Christmas bombing attempt on a US airliner....

“The [Interior] Ministry will continue tracking down Al Qaeda terrorists and will continue its strikes against the group until it is totally eliminated,’’ Brigadier General Saleh al-Zawari, deputy interior minister, told senior military officials at a meeting in Mareb, another province believed to shelter Al Qaeda fighters.

Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, an offshoot of Osama bin Laden’s group, says it was behind the attempt to bomb a Detroit-bound airliner.

Yup, work the DEAD CIA ASSET into the mix, why not?

Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, a 23-year-old Nigerian passenger, was arrested Dec. 25 after he allegedly tried to bring down the Northwest Airlines flight, carrying 289 people. US investigators said Abdulmutallab told them he had received training and instructions from Al Qaeda operatives in Yemen. Yemen’s government has said Abdulmutallab spent two periods in the country, about five years ago and from August to December of this year, just before the attempted attack.

There is your BOILED DOWN PROPAGANDA!

Abdulmutallab’s Yemen connection has drawn attention to Al Qaeda’s growing presence in the impoverished and lawless country, which is on the tip of the Arabian Peninsula across the Gulf of Aden from Somalia....

And CUI BONO, 'eh?

Before yesterday’s clashes, Yemeni forces backed by US intelligence officials had carried out two major strikes against Al Qaeda hideouts this month, reportedly killing more than 60 militants.

The United States has increasingly provided intelligence, surveillance, and training to Yemeni forces during the past year, and has provided some firepower, according to a senior US defense official, who requested anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the subject.

Defense Department spokesman Bryan Whitman said Yemen received $67 million in training and support under the Pentagon’s counterterrorism program last year, second only to some $112 million spent in Pakistan.

Gee, that was mostly propaganda and what is going on here.

What about over there?

"Pirate attacks in the area nearly doubled in 2009 over a year earlier, despite the deployment in December 2008 of the European Union Naval Force"

Yeah, ISN'T THAT ODD?

What a FAILURE of POLICY, huh?

"West warns that Somalia is becoming a haven for international terrorists

Pass beyond what is described as government territory in the Somali capital — a few blocks between the airport, the harbour and the presidential palace — and you are at the mercy of al-Shabaab, the extremist Islamic group that holds sway across southern and central Somalia. Where it rules, it has implemented laws and punishments reminiscent of Afghanistan under Taleban rule.

"Ever notice that "terrorists" rarely sit over areas of the planet which aren't chock-filled with various natural resources the West is slobbering all over itself to obtain, usually by invoking some state of war, or proxy war, as is happening in Somalia?!?" -- Wake the Flock Up

Must be the PROTECTING PIRATES then, huh!!

And CUI BONO?

"Somali pirate says band split $4m ransom" by Associated Press | December 29, 2009

MOGADISHU, Somalia - A band of Somali pirates split a $4 million ransom to release a Chinese cargo ship and 25 sailors after two months in captivity, one of the hijackers said yesterday.

The EU Naval Force said the bulk carrier De Xin Hai was released outside of Hobyo, Somalia, on Sunday. The crew and ship are in good condition, the force said. China’s official Xinhua News Agency said the ship and crew were now under the protection of a Chinese naval fleet after an early-morning rescue. It did not give further details about the rescue.

The De Xin Hai was the first Chinese vessel to be hijacked since China deployed a three-ship squadron to the Gulf of Aden last year, joining Britain, India, Iran, the United States, France, and other countries in anti-piracy patrols. De Xin Hai, owned by Qingdao Ocean Shipping Co., Ltd., was carrying about 76,000 tons of coal from South Africa to India when it was seized Oct. 19 about 700 miles east of the Somali coastline.

Pirate attacks in the area nearly doubled in 2009 over a year earlier, despite the deployment in December 2008 of the European Union Naval Force - the first international force specifically to counter Somali pirates. A Somali man who said he was a pirate said that the pirates were paid $4 million to release the Chinese cargo ship and its crew. Somali pirates have been paid more than $100 million in ransom over the last two years. After the release of the Chinese vessel, Somali pirates hold eight vessels and 213 crew, the EU Naval Force said.

Add another one.

NAIROBI - Striking into the heavily patrolled Gulf of Aden, Somali pirates seized a British-flagged chemical tanker - the first merchant vessel to be hijacked there in nearly six months, the same day that a ship was taken by brigands in the Indian Ocean, officials said yesterday.

The double hijacking late Monday shows that, a year after an international naval armada began deploying off Somalia to protect shipping, piracy remains a problem.

MORE than a problem; it has GOTTEN WORSE, CUI BONO?

Monday’s attacks occurred more than 1,000 miles apart, indicating the wide range of territory prowled by pirates and underscoring the difficulty of policing such a large area.

I am SO SICK of LAME EXCUSES!

If this were true there would be PIRATES EVERYWHERE!

So the RADAR and SATELLITES do NOT MEAN SHIT, huh?

Then WHY ARE WE STILL SPENDING $$$ on it all, huh?

Commander John Harbour, spokesman for the European Union’s anti-piracy force, said the seizures were likely only a coincidence and not coordinated because several pirate bands operate in the Indian Ocean and Gulf of Aden. “Most of the time we are able to disrupt them, but sadly they were successful taking two ships at once. It’s not the first time they’ve taken two ships at once,’’ Harbour said. EU officials believe about 1,000 Somalis are involved in the piracy trade.

Somali pirates have hijacked more than 80 ships in the past two years, with many of the hijackings netting the pirates multimillion-dollar ransoms. Resolving the hijacking of the British-flagged tanker could be complicated because the crew is comprised of nine nationalities, Harbour said.

Btw, what ever happened to that British couple?

I'm beginning to wonder if that ever happened at all, readers.

Just DOWN the MEMORY HOLE like SO MANY OTHER THINGS, 'eh, MSM?

With the latest hijackings, pirates now hold 12 vessels and 263 crew members.

How can ONE SHIP be counted as FOUR, readers?

You SAW the END of the LAST REPORT, right?

It said EIGHT SHIPS!

The newspaper CAN NOT EVEN GET THAT RIGHT, huh?

"Fighting in Nigeria leaves 38 dead" by Associated Press | December 30, 2009

BAUCHI, Nigeria - Fighting between Islamic militants and security forces in northern Nigeria left at least 38 people dead as sect members armed with spears, knives, assault rifles, and arrows ransacked a neighborhood and set homes ablaze, police officials said yesterday.

Mohammed Barau, a police spokesman for Bauchi state, said members of the Kata Kalo sect began fighting among themselves and accusing one another of causing their leader to fall seriously ill. He corrected earlier official statements that the arrest of the sect leader prompted the clash.

WTF?

The fighting spread into the streets of a poor neighborhood near the city of Bauchi and military forces attempted to stop the violence, Barau said. Officials said the militants were armed with spears and arrows. The militants’ fierce attack sent the military unit into a retreat, Barau said.

Yeah, right, spears and arrows chased off the military.

Can you pass me that salt shaker, please?

Every MSM article must be taken with a grain.

At least one soldier and a state security officer died in the initial clash early Monday morning, officials said, as well as two bystanders. Barau said military and police units returned to the area in force later, but “before police got there, they had already killed themselves.’’

Translation: Military death squads massacred them.

They don't think we are buying this cock-and-bull story?

However, extrajudicial killings are common in Nigeria and an Amnesty International report released in November claims police kill hundreds each year.

Add 38 more to the death toll.

Officials said they arrested 20 people after the fighting.

Of course, Nigeria must be an ally because no one is making a fuss over tis one-day wonder.

Detroit Airliner Terror Incident A Convenience Theory

For the last couple of months Saudi Arabia has been bombarding Yemen with fighter jets. Just recently the US sent cruise missles into Yemen in a reported attempt to hit Al Qaeda sites. Also, US fighter jets joined the attacks on Yemen. In return, Al Qaeda reportedly issued a warning that it would avenge US raids. Well just when America needs a good excuse to attack Yemen, conveniently we have one. Now never mind that we have initiated the US and Saudi attacks before this recent terror attempt. Just keep in mind that the Nigerian is a Yemeni terrorist.

Update:

[Who remembers Abdullah Mehsud, the original creator of the so-called Pakistani Taliban, the TTP? How about Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, who was not in Guantanamo, but was a guest for an extended stay with the Jordanian secret police? Wherever the United States wants to invade next, one of these former prisoners appears, to start another major militant movement, which inevitably justifies American military intervention. While we were concerned about an Israeli airstrike on Iran and a US invasion of Pakistan, or a new incursion into one of the "Stans," Obama, Israel and the Saudis came-up with this new front. Keep in mind two things--the guys we are launching airstrikes upon are Shia, who have nothing to do with Sunni "al Qaida," and the actual "al Qaida" guys rounded-up by the Yemenis have all been linked to the Mossad by hard physical evidence. Mossad is "Al Qaida in Yemen."]

"Billions in Recent Yememi Investments and The Underwear Bomber’s Daddy. It’s a Small World Ain’t It?

Correct me if I am wrong, but didn’t brave soldiers used to throw themselves on grenades back in the day to absorb the shock and therefore save their fellow soldiers. Isn’t there a saying about “throwing yourself on a grenade” to that end? So the big “terrorist” plot here is to get a small amount of PETN onboard a plane and then SIT ON IT, thus absorbing the relatively small explosion… with his ass and his 150lb body? That’s the “plan” that requires, as President Obama blusters, “every element of national power” to fight? I don’t think so. You gotta look a little closer than a singed pair of tightie-whities if you want to know why President Obama is going to kill more people in Yemen. I have. Take a look.
