On the Point of the Spear in Pakistan

Lot of dead Muslims....

"Pakistani troops kill 28 militants" by Associated Press | April 2, 2010

PARACHINAR, Pakistan — Pakistani troops stormed militant positions, and helicopters destroyed vehicles carrying insurgents near the Afghan border yesterday, killing 28 suspected fighters and forcing thousands of civilians to flee, officials said.

Just what they need: MORE REFUGEES!!

The offensive in the Orakzai tribal region is aimed at flushing out Pakistani Taliban insurgents who had fled an army onslaught further south. Government official Sami Ullah said at least 18 militants died in clashes with troops in Orakzai. As a group of insurgents fled to the neighboring Kurram region, helicopters hit three vehicles, killing 10 more militants and wounding others, Lieutenant Colonel Akbar Butt said....

Weren't fleeing civilians. Couldn't possibly be.

Tens of thousands of Orakzai residents have fled the area over the past few months as the military has launched air strikes and other operations there. Over the past 10 days, at least 10,000 civilians have moved to a camp set up by the government in the Kohat area, just outside the tribal belt, said Janzeb Khan, a government official.

Yay, they came and destroyed our village but they are taking care of you.

The government is providing food and other facilities to the displaced civilian, Khan said.

I would have rather you stay the eff out instead of serving a lie.

Orakzai usually has a population of 450,000 and borders the tribal regions of Khyber and Kurram.

Inflated body counts or not, I' am sick of the slaughter!

"36 killed in clashes near Afghan border

Pakistani troops fought gun battles and bombed militant hide-outs in a Taliban stronghold near the Afghan border yesterday, leaving six soldiers and 30 militants dead, officials said. It was part of a recently launched operation in Orakzai tribal region aimed at flushing out foreign and Pakistani militants who last year fled an army onslaught farther south. The government said both ground forces and army helicopters took part in yesterday’s fighting. The troops captured six militants (AP)."

So how many more thousands of refugees streamed out, or is it a no-man's land now?

And Obomber keeps his foot on the pedal!!!

"
Drones battering militants in tribal area" by New York Times | April 5, 2010

PESHAWAR, Pakistan — A stepped-up campaign of American drone strikes over the past three months has battered Al Qaeda and its Pakistani and Afghan brethren in the tribal area of North Waziristan, according to a mid-ranking militant and supporters of the government there....

The drones, operated by the CIA, fly overhead sometimes four at a time, emitting a beelike hum virtually 24 hours a day, observing and tracking targets, then unleashing missiles on their quarry, they said.

And here I thought I was hearing things.

The strikes have sharpened tensions between the local tribesmen and the militants, who have dumped bodies with signs accusing the victims of being American spies in Miram Shah, the main town in North Waziristan, the sources said.

The impact of the drone strikes on the militants’ operations — on freedom of movement, ability to communicate, and the ease of importing new recruits to replace those who have been killed — has been difficult to divine because North Waziristan, at the nether reaches of the tribal area, is virtually sealed from the outside world.

I think I'm going to be sick this morning.

"US Consulate in Pakistan hit by insurgents; Political rally also targeted; attacks kill 50" by Griffe Witte and Haq Nawaz Khan, Washington Post | April 6, 2010

Oh, them again.

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — With a complex and deadly assault on the most vivid symbol of US influence in this country’s troubled northwest, the Pakistani Taliban served notice yesterday that they remain formidable despite a sustained campaign to wipe them out.

The midday attack on the United States Consulate in the city of Peshawar failed in its apparent aim to breach the facility’s gates, but it succeeded in reminding nervous Pakistanis and apprehensive US officials that the militant threat here has not gone away....

You get tired of reading this stuff.

It was followed only hours later by a suicide attack that killed 42 people at a rally for a political party that has aligned itself with the United States in opposing religious extremists....

Pakistani officials in recent weeks have sought to portray the Pakistani Taliban as having been badly hobbled by army offensives that have eliminated the insurgents’ vast sanctuaries, and by American missile strikes that have killed their leaders. The apparent successes have brought promises of revenge from Taliban commanders, who say they can deploy armies of young men willing to die to attack US interests and the pro-Western government here. One of the group’s spokesmen claimed responsibility for the assault on the consulate yesterday and vowed there will be more....

Did you trace the call, or.... ?

The assault fits a pattern of militant strikes here in which insurgents wearing security services uniforms assault heavily guarded facilities with gunfire and suicide blasts....

Oh, no, NOT AGAIN!!

See: Occupation Iraq: Blackwater Banging on the Door

Yeah, they are also swarming around inside Pakistan.

In Washington, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said:

[The attack] is part of a wave of violence perpetrated by brutal extremists who seek to undermine Pakistan’s democracy and sow fear and discord. The Pakistani people have suffered grievous losses, but they are standing firm in the face of this intimidation — and the United States stands with them.’’

Has someone had her blow into a breathalyzer yet?

US officials praised the performance of the Pakistani guards, who they said had kept the attackers from inflicting heavier losses.

Yeah, yeah, just makes it stink all the more.

Honestly, at this point, that is a good question because it seems to me like they already have.

In any event, they have sold those people in the hills out on the alter of a lie.

Sorry I keep coming back to that 9/11 thing; even if those turban-wearing "terrorists" are intolerant SoBs they are STILL INNOCENT of the JUSTIFYING CHARGE for DUMPING MISSILES and AIR FIRE on them!!!
