French Two-Face
UNITED NATIONS — The 10-year-old promise to lift the world’s poorest is unfulfilled, and with world economies clawing back from the worst recession since World War II, France’s president and others implored leaders yesterday not to return to their practice of ignoring global poverty.
Nicolas Sarkozy, the French leader, was the first to accept UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s challenge for nations to deliver more resources to combat global poverty, ignorance, and misery.
Start with the newspapers. They are the main cause of all three imho.
He pledged to boost France’s annual $10 billion contribution to the world’s poorest people by 20 percent over the next three years. He urged other leaders to join him.
This as he tells his own countrymen they have to bite the bullet and give up their lavish lifestyles.
Btw, who the foque is paying all his bills, French taxpayers?
“We have no right to do less than what we have decided to do,’’ Sarkozy told more than 140 presidents, premiers, princes, and a king at the opening of the three-day UN Millennium Development Goals summit. “Let us not fall back into our old bad habits.’’
Like WAGING WARS on people?
Sarkozy spoke as UN member states began their accounting of progress in the decade since promising to end global poverty.
These guys have had FIFTY-PLUS YEARS to SOLVE the world's problems and the world has been TURNED into a SHIT PIT!
Developed nations have fallen well short in keeping pace with a final goal set for 2015.
But BANKERS and WAR-PROFITEERS are doing JUST FINE, thank you!!
The United Nations acknowledges that even if the main target of reducing extreme poverty by half is achieved in the next five years, nearly 1 billion people still will be living on less than $1.25 a day.
What a FAILED INSTITUTION!!
Sarkozy proposed that the world body create a small international tax on financial transactions to fund development aimed at ending poverty and meeting other millennial goals.
Sorry, but MORE TAXES is EXACTLY the WRONG WAY to GO!
He said developed nations had a moral obligation to poorer ones.
But NOT ONE to STOP KILLING THEM over LIES and for CORPORATE PROFIT!
This is nothing but INSULTING, AGENDA-PUSHING, GLOBALIST PROPAGANDA passing itself off as "news" in my newspaper!
“The financial crisis is severe in the rich countries, it creates deficits,’’ he said. “But its consequences are far worse for the poor countries.’’
So are wars based on lies.
Developed countries must make a special effort in Africa, he said. Many people there still die of preventable illnesses such as malaria.
And the U.N. has had how long?
As part of the goals set for 2015, world leaders have vowed to reduce extreme poverty by half, ensure that every child has a primary school education, halt and reverse the AIDS pandemic, reduce maternal mortality by three-quarters and child mortality by two-thirds, and cut by half the number of people without access to clean water and basic sanitation.
I guess all the wars based on lies they never seem to stop and the corporate exploitation and theft of resources is being protected by them.

PARIS — French authorities estimated nearly 1 million protesters filled the streets yesterday to try to force President Nicolas Sarkozy to drop his plan to raise the retirement age to 62 from 60. Strikes also disrupted airports, train stations, and schools for the second time this month.
The protests have been a big test for Sarkozy, who, like other European leaders, has struggled to convince his country of the need for cost-cutting and scaling back generous social benefits since the Greek debt crisis scared markets and sapped confidence in the 16-nation euro currency....
