Mitchell Does Not Make It

"Feds question stability of Conn's Mitchell College

Connecticut officials say they are monitoring Mitchell College's financial welfare after it failed a federal financial responsibility test.

As if the federal government would know anything about financial responsibility.

How many trillions is the deficit this year?

The U.S. Department of Education said the private college in New London received a lower than acceptable score under a formula that considers debts, assets and other factors. That test is used to monitor the financial stability of schools where students receive federal financial aid.

And who is monitoring the tax buck they are taking from you?

Mitchell was the only Connecticut institution on the watch list that included 149 private, nonprofit colleges. Officials from the 1,000-student college say they're not ready to address the finding, but Connecticut's higher education commissioner says Mitchell isn't in imminent danger of closing.

Yeah, Mitch didn't get much done at all.

Neither do the rest of Connecticut's schools:

"Education panel faults Conn. on achievement gap" by Everton Bailey Jr., Associated Press  |  August 31, 2010

HARTFORD — The performance gap between low-income Connecticut students and their peers is the largest in the country, according to a state-appointed education committee....

Steven Simmons, the group’s chairman, said the report would focus on ways to attract better teachers and school leaders to Connecticut schools, tips on how to better prepare and support state educators, methods on how to help struggling institutions, and ideas on how to reallocate financial resources.

It is always the teacher's fault.

Am I ever glad I didn't become one.

He said prekindergarten education would also be explored.

Why not have the state just carry the kid for nine months, too?

Members of the committee said they believe the achievement gap could have a significant impact on the state’s unemployment rate and economy.

So does shipping manufacturing jobs overseas.

“Our state needs to attract new business, yet new businesses need skilled workers,’’ commission member Dudley Williams said. “Without basic reading and math abilities, these skills are rarely present, and without these abilities, unemployment is far likely to rise.’’

What is your tax code like?

And that is what happens when you are giving out politically-correct degrees in agenda-pushing topics while the world is moving ahead.

Tom Murphy, a spokesman for the state Department of Education, said he believes there is a direct correlation between poverty and minority students.

And illegal immigration.

Despite the link, Murphy said, the latest standardized tests scores show Connecticut African-American and Hispanic students are performing at the same level, if not better, than their national counterparts....

Yup, EVERYONE is LYING TO YOU here in AmeriKa!!

Actually, that is a LESSON you CAN LEARN, kid!

Here is another one.

"UConn switches to paper plates, cups to save water

Paper plates and plastic silverware will soon be the norm at dining halls on the University of Connecticut's main campus in Storrs.

WTF are you paying ever increasing tuition for? So investment houses can raid college endowments again?

UConn officials announced Wednesday they will switch to disposable plates, cups and utensils in all eight dining halls to save water.

That is going to add to the solid waste crisis!!!

The U have a landfill out back, or.... ??

The change, which starts Monday, will stay in effect until drought conditions end. UConn dining services director Dennis Pierce says it's hoped the students' efforts will set an example for the rest of the university community. UConn serves about 180,000 meals weekly when classes are in session. About 12,800 students live on its Storrs campus and eat at its dining halls.
