Globe is not on it:

"Bahrain arrests doctors, nurses; Medical personnel to be tried after treating protesters" May 04, 2011|Associated Press

MANAMA, Bahrain — Several doctors and nurses who treated injured antigovernment protesters during the months of unrest in Bahrain will be tried in a military court on charges of acting against the state, the justice minister said yesterday....

See: But About Bahrain....

Globe doesn't really care about local docs lending a hand, huh?

The announcement is the latest in the Sunni rulers’ relentless pursuit of Shi’ite opposition supporters after weeks of street marches demanding greater freedoms, equal rights, and an elected government in Bahrain.

Shouldn't the U.S. be lining up with the Shi'ites?

During the unrest, medical staff repeatedly said they were under professional duty to treat all and strongly rejected claims by authorities that helping antigovernment protesters was akin to supporting their cause.

Yes, doctors are SUPPOSED to act that way.

As for the authorities.... (sigh).

Separately, two former Parliament members of the country’s main Shi’ite party Al Wefaq were arrested, according to a senior party leader, Abdul-Jalil Khalil.

Al Wefaq has been the leading political backer of Bahrain’s uprising, which was inspired by revolts in Tunisia and Egypt earlier this year.

Bahrain’s Sunni rulers declared martial law on March 15.

And the U.S. stays silent, huh?

"Bahrain’s security court yesterday convicted a Shi’ite opposition activist and sentenced him to five years in prison for the attempted murder of a policeman during antigovernment protests in the Gulf kingdom.

And the "security" forces that actually killed somebody are getting how many?

The Bahrain News Agency said another activist was acquitted of the same charge in the court that was set up after emergency rule was imposed in March. The report said the convicted protester, Abdulla Mohammed Habib, can appeal his sentence.

Bahrain’s king declared martial law March 15 to crush weeks of demonstrations by the island’s Shi’ite majority, which has campaigned for greater freedoms and an elected government in the Sunni-ruled nation.

At least 30 people have died since the protests began in February. Hundreds of protesters, opposition leaders, athletes, activists and Shi’ite professionals such as doctors and lawyers have been detained in the past month.

Yeah, U.S. can't criticize there. We's TORTURE and CLAIM it WORKS!!!

"Bahrain’s king set a fast-track timetable to end martial law-style rule yesterday in a bid to display confidence that authorities have smothered a proreform uprising....

Not only is the Globe not on the beat, they are doing public relations for 'em.

The announcement to lift emergency rule two weeks early on June 1 came just hours after the start of a closed-door trial accusing activists of plotting to overthrow the Gulf state’s rulers.

The decision appears part of Bahrain’s aggressive international campaign to reassure financial markets and win back high-profile events.

They include the coveted Formula One grand prix that was canceled in March amid deadly clashes and protests by the country’s majority Shi’ites, who are seeking greater rights and freedoms.

Am I the only disgusted by this?
