The Billion-Dollar President

Bought and paid for:

"Cash brings Obama back to town; Visit today may raise $2.2m" May 18, 2011|By Donovan Slack, Globe Staff

WASHINGTON — President Obama is scheduled to sweep through Boston today for the second time in three months, tapping the deep pockets of Massachusetts supporters to help raise what analysts predict could be $1 billion for his reelection bid.

I wonder how much BP will be forking over this time out.

Obama plans to attend a fund-raiser this afternoon at the Boston Center for the Arts in the South End and then another at the Brookline residence of advertising mogul Jack Connors, where supporters will pay up to $35,800 per couple to dine on poached shrimp and beef tenderloin with the president.

I'll bet it isn't oil or radiated shrimp, either.

Go gorge yourselves.

The Bay State, with its concentration of medical, technology, and financial executives, has been a gold mine for Democrats....

"Obama raises funds, spirits in Boston visit" by Peter Schworm and Donovan Slack, Globe Staff / May 19, 2011

The evening event, which couples paid $35,800 to attend, was expected to raise more than $2 million, part of an aggressive fund-raising drive since Obama formally launched his reelection campaign last month....

On Tremont Street, where hundreds waited in a cold rain in hopes of a glimpse of the president at the arts center, support for Obama was unconditional....

My support for any public official is never unconditional.

As for the fuhrer worship.... sigh.

"Princeton’s West takes shot at Obama

WASHINGTON — Cornel West, a Princeton University professor and leading black intellectual, is harshly criticizing President Obama, a candidate he once supported but now calls “a black mascot of Wall Street oligarchs and a black puppet of corporate plutocrats.’’

Yeah, he's kind of proved that the last few years.

************

It is not the first time West has raised questions about Obama. Last year, in an interview with NPR, he said he wished the president were more “Martin Luther King-like.’’

Oh, I could not agree more!

Instead we get a guy who escalates wars and orders more missile strikes.
