Sunday Globe Special: Mother Murdered in Honduran Home

"Killing in Honduras hits US community; Woman’s loss reverberates in D.C. region" by Pamela Constable |  Washington Post, December 15, 2013

WASHINGTON — The horrific slaying hardly made the news....

For some local residents, the killing opened a window onto a world they knew little about: a Central American country where poverty, crime, and disasters have driven thousands to the Washington area, and where corruption and military intervention weakened a poor but once-stable democracy.

Then the U.S.-supported coup wasn't that good an idea?

Jeff and Samantha Wetzel, former Peace Corps workers in Honduras, were among those who paid their respects. They said they had experienced firsthand the increasing danger and instability in Honduras, which accelerated in 2009 after the military overthrew an elected president....

The military which just won reelection from what I'm told before coverage of the entire nation went down the ma$$ media memory hole again.
