"Man in Quincy standoff pleads not guilty in bank heist" by Jasper Craven | Globe correspondent, December 20, 2013
A Quincy man with a lengthy criminal record was arraigned Friday in Dedham District Court after allegedly robbing a bank last weekend and then engaging in a tense standoff with police for more than nine hours at his home Thursday, police said.
Wellesley police obtained an arrest warrant for 32-year-old Brian Kalil after he was identified as a suspect in the Sunday afternoon robbery of a TD Bank branch on Worcester Street in Wellesley.
When police and FBI agents arrived at Kalil’s home at 1045 Furnace Brook Parkway at about 1:30 p.m. Thursday with a warrant, he refused to come out.
“Police used loudspeakers, phone communication, and other means, but he was not responsive,” said Wellesley police Lieutenant Marie Cleary, whose department is leading the investigation.
Unsure whether Kalil was armed, police said they employed “tactical maneuvers,” including the use of chemical spray and a Taser, to remove him from the home, but were initially unsuccessful.
A K-9 unit was called to extract Kalil, who had barricaded himself under eaves in the attic. Kalil threw the dog down the stairs when the animal engaged him. He was arrested about 10:45 p.m., Cleary said.
No injuries were reported, she said.
During the standoff, traffic was rerouted around Furnace Brook Parkway, which caused delays during the evening commute, Cleary said.
Police did not say whether a gun was recovered from Kalil.
Meaning they did not recover one.
Kalil was taken to Quincy Medical Center for evaluation, then released and taken to Wellesley police headquarters, where he was processed.
Kalil pleaded not guilty Friday to charges of unarmed robbery and larceny over $250. Bail was revoked for him due to three restraining orders out of Norfolk Superior Court that he allegedly violated, as well as an open firearm case for him out of Brockton District Court.
Kalil has a lengthy criminal history in Massachusetts with 55 prior convictions, according to prosecutors, who cited the convictions in court Friday.
And it was still out walking around, huh?
Reports in the Globe and other news media indicate that he was charged in a number of robberies dating back to his early 20s.
Yeah, gotta keep those nonviolent drug offenders in there instead.
In 2005, Kalil was charged with robbing a half-dozen stores in Eastern Massachusetts.
That is not that long ago!
An off-duty officer arrested Kalil after he witnessed him in the middle of one of the robberies bashing his way into a liquor store with a sledgehammer, the Globe reported at the time.
In most of the robberies, Kalil made off with cigarettes, lottery tickets, and cash.
And was never caught? Who does he know?
Kalil was also indicted in 2008 on drug trafficking charges after prosecutors from the Norfolk district attorney’s office found him to be involved in an OxyContin distribution ring, according to a press release announcing the indictments.
Oh, he's a DRUG DEALER, too?!!?
STINK!!!!
Kalil is scheduled to return to Dedham District Court Tuesday for a dangerousness hearing.
I'm sure he will be released again.

So who has been protecting this guy all these years, folks?
