BROOKLINE — Faculty and parents at the prestigious Park School are reeling following the arrest of a longtime Latin teacher on multiple charges of indecent assault and battery of a child under the age of 14 and a separate, second arrest of an employee on statutory rape charges.

Gregory Grote, a 65-year-old Roslindale resident who has taught at the private school for 26 years, was charged Monday with an assault that allegedly occurred last December. The victim was described by Brookline police as a former student at The Park School, a 125-year-old institution that serves prekindergarten through ninth grade....
Grote’s arrest followed the arraignment last Wednesday of a 29-year-old teacher’s assistant who was charged with the aggravated statutory rape of a public school student....

Brookline District Court Judge Mary Dacey White ordered a teacher’s assistant charged with statutory rape to be held Wednesday in lieu of $2,500 cash bail, as police detectives continued their investigation.
Carlos Morales 29, who lives in Brookline, had helped teach fifth grade at the private Park School in the town and also worked in the Brookline public schools.
At a dangerousness hearing, White ordered that if Morales does make bail, he will be subject to GPS monitoring, must surrender his passport, and must stay away from the alleged victim and children under the age of 16.
He was the first of two employees at the Park School to be arrested in the span of a week in separate cases. On Saturday, Brookline police arrested teacher Gregory Grote, 65, of Roslindale on three charges of indecent assault and battery of a child under the age of 14, in an assault that allegedly occurred last December....
