The Bite of Breilly

Better get an AIDS test….

"East Boston man bit officer, police say" by Jacqueline Tempera |  Globe correspondent, January 24, 2014

An East Boston man is facing numerous charges, including assault and battery on a police officer, after he allegedly bit an officer who was trying to arrest him earlier this week, Suffolk prosecutors said.

Breilly Carrasquillo, 23, was charged with three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, two counts of assault and battery on a police officer, one count of threatening to commit a crime, and one count of malicious destruction of property over $250, prosecutors said. He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in Boston Municipal Court on Thursday.

Carrasquillo was arrested after Boston police responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at 178 Faywood Ave. in East Boston at about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, police said.

When officers arrived at the residence, they saw a female victim running toward the front door. She was being chased by Carrasquillo, who was carrying a knife, police said in a statement.

Officers drew their guns and ordered Carrasquillo to drop the knife. He waved the weapon.

And the cops didn't shoot like they usually do?

Later, he dropped the knife and left the house.

"Later" he dropped the knife and left the house? So what were the police doing during this time?

Outside, he yelled at officers, saying he would hurt anyone who tried to arrest him, police said. Officers tried to calm him, but he allegedly began to bite and kick them, police said. He also attempted to take an officer’s gun, police said.

After a lengthy struggle, police took Carrasquillo into custody.

How many police were there, and why couldn't they handle one guy? SSRIs?

One officer was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was treated for bite wounds on his leg and hands. He was later released.

At the arraignment, Judge Serge Georges released Carrasquillo on his own recognizance.

WHAT?!?!

He was ordered to wear a GPS monitoring device, abide by a curfew, stay away from and have no contact with the victims, stay away from East Boston, and remain alcohol-free, according to Renee Algarin, spokeswoman for District Attorney Daniel F. Conley.

Oh, he was drunk and waving around a knife! I'm so glad my Globe loves its beer.

Carrasquillo is set to return to court March 26, prosecutors said.
