"Obama reiterates plan to try to rework NAFTA
President Obama told Canadians last night that he stands behind free trade, but will follow through on his campaign pledge to rework the North American Free Trade Agreement.
In an interview broadcast on the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. leading up to his visit tomorrow to Ottawa, his first foreign trip, Obama was asked about the "Buy American" provisions in the $787 billion stimulus package. He replied that he will oppose protectionist policies, but reiterated that he wants to strengthen the environmental and labor protections in NAFTA.
You know, it SOUNDS GOOD; however, what is REALLY NEEDED is to SCRAP THESE GLOBALIST AGREEMENTS 100% and RETURN SOVEREIGNTY to the PEOPLE!!!
"I think there are a lot of sensitivities right now because of the huge decline in world trade," Obama said. "As I've said before . . . my argument has always been that we might as well incorporate them into the full agreement so that they're fully enforceable.
"But what I've also said is that Canada is one of our most important trading partners, we rely on them heavily, there's $1.5 billion worth of trade going back and forth every day between the two countries, and that it is not in anybody's interest to see that trade diminish," he said.

Is Obama hot fart misting the environmental crowd, too?
"Controversy awaiting Obama in Canada; Activists want him to oppose use of oil sands" by Globe News Services | February 19, 2009
President Obama, who has vowed to spend billions developing cleaner sources of energy, will face a touchy energy issue today in Canada.... a tough stand on Canada's huge oil sands.
The oil sands represent the largest reserves outside the Middle East, but extracting the heavy crude from the sands releases enormous amounts of greenhouse gases, blamed for global warming....
Yeah, GOOD THING the planet is COOLING!!!!
The problem for Obama is that Canada is the largest single supplier of energy to the United States....
Obama.... did acknowledge that the sands create "a big carbon footprint" and said the United States and Canada should collaborate on ways to capture carbon and then store it to prevent greenhouse gases from being emitted into the atmosphere....
Why do I smell North American Union all over this?
Obama also plans to reassure Canada, the largest US trading partner, that he has no interest in disturbing the two countries' economic relationship....
When he was scrapping for the Democratic nomination a year ago, Obama raised the notion of withdrawing from NAFTA....
Now, though, Obama is choosing softer language....
Back there, cultists.
