"In shift, Iran hints at warmer ties with US; Hope after Washington's new strategy" by Ali Akbar Dareini, Associated Press | April 16, 2009

TEHRAN - .... Iran had mostly dismissed the overtures, continuing to take hard-line steps like putting an American journalist on trial on espionage allegations....

At least they do try their suspects. How long those innocents been in our torture chambers with no charges?

In Washington, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton discussed Ahmadinejad's comments during a meeting yesterday with the European Union's foreign policy chief, Javier Solana.

"With respect to the latest speeches and remarks out of Iran, we welcome dialogue," Clinton said. "We've been saying that we are looking to have an engagement with Iran, but we haven't seen anything that would amount to any kind of proposal at all."

See: Israel's State Sock-Puppet

She said the six nations trying to draw Iran back to the negotiating table would have more to say in the coming days. Those countries, the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany, asked Solana last week to invite Iran to a new round of talks. Solana said Iran has not formally responded to the invitation, and he declined to comment on Ahmadinejad's remarks....

Iran's uranium enrichment program has been the key point of contention.....

For ONLY ONE NATION, not mine!!!

Yesterday, a senior official said the United States would be prepared to let Tehran continue enriching uranium at the current level.

Oh, GOOD!! I now expect bad press for Obama!

Uranium enrichment can be used to produce fuel for nuclear energy or nuclear weapons. The United States and some of its allies accuse Tehran of seeking to build nuclear weapons. Iran denies the allegations, saying its nuclear program is geared toward generating electricity.

Ahmadinejad said Iran welcomes dialogue provided it is based on justice and respect, suggesting the West should not try to force it to halt enrichment.

Wouldn't YOU WANT THAT, American?

"Today we are preparing a new package. Once it becomes ready, we will present that package" to you, the president said. "It is a package that constitutes peace and justice throughout the globe and also respects other nations' rights." He didn't elaborate.

What's to elaborate on?

Maybe there is a shift going on, folks:

The Lobby drummed out an adviser for s** like that!

In turning away from years of incrementalism in US policy toward Iran, Professor John Tirman, the executive director of MIT's Center for International Studiescenter and a political scientist, is throwing out a challenge for a major change in how the United States approaches Iran. There are certain to be howls of opposition.

And WE ALL KNOW from WHOM, don't we?

But the paper's detailed argument for bold measures adds a new quality of strategic thinking to what has often felt like a tactical discussion.

Can't we JUST FOR ONCE be ABOUT PEACE?

"Iranian blogger said to have died in prison" by Associated Press | March 20, 2009

I will of course count on my AmeriKan government to make sure that doesn't happen here; otherwise, we are as bad as the devil-Persians, huh?

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates - Rights groups say an Iranian blogger convicted of insulting the country's ruling clerics has died in Tehran's main prison.

The International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran and Reporters Without Borders said a lawyer for 29-year-old Omid Mirsayafi reported that the blogger died Wednesday at Evin prison.

The lawyer, Mohammad Ali Dadkhah, couldn't be reached for further comment. There was no immediate comment from Iranian authorities. The rights groups said Mirsayafi suffered from severe depression and died after authorities failed to provide him with proper medical care. No other details were available.

"We hold the Iranian authorities entirely responsible," Reporters Without Borders said in a statement. "He was unfairly arrested, and they failed to provide him with the necessary medical care."

The International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran called for Iranian prosecutors to open a full-scale inquiry into the death. The group said Mirsayafi was sentenced last month to 30 months in prison after being convicted of insulting Iran's top officials in his blog.

According to the rights groups, Mirsayafi said his postings were read by a only few friends and not meant for a wider audience. Most of the articles on his blog concerned traditional Persian music and culture, Reporters Without Borders said.

"Iran OK's visit by journalist's parents" by Associated Press | April 6, 2009

TEHRAN - The parents of an American journalist imprisoned in Iran will be allowed to visit their daughter, their lawyer said yesterday after the North Dakota couple arrived in the country seeking her release.

Please see: Ganis: Iran far from what US media say

Ever hear of Operation Mockingbird, readers?

Reza Saberi and his wife, Akiko, arrived early yesterday and met with authorities at Evin prison, who gave them permission to see their daughter, Roxana, during today's weekly visitation period, said the lawyer, Abdolsamad Khorramshai.

Iranian prosecutors have now issued a formal indictment against Roxana Saberi, Khorramshai said, but he has not yet seen the charges and probably will not for several weeks under Iran's court procedures. Saberi's case will be reviewed by the Revolutionary Court, probably next month, Khorramshai said. He had no further details.

Iranian officials have said Saberi was arrested for working in the country after her press credentials had expired. Her parents found out about her arrest in a Feb. 10 phone call from her. Her father has said that Saberi has told her family she has not been harmed physically but that the detention is psychologically challenging.

Tell it to the Muslims we've tortured and heldfor years!

Saberi grew up in Fargo, N.D., and is a dual citizen of the United States and Iran. She has lived in Iran for six years and has reported for several news organizations.

She must be like the dual Israeli traitor staffing the AmeriKan government.

WASHINGTON - An Iranian-American journalist accused by Iran of spying for the United States has been tried behind closed doors, Iran's judiciary said yesterday, and a verdict is expected in one to two weeks.... Before Iran's Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance revoked Saberi's press credentials in 2006, without specifying the reason, she had worked on a freelance basis for the BBC, National Public Radio, and other news organizations.

She remained in the country, and according to her parents is writing a book. Saberi, who holds both Iranian and American citizenship, was arrested in late January for buying alcohol, which is illegal in Iran.

She was ASKING FOR TROUBLE?

Last week, however, an Iranian judge leveled a far more serious allegation against her: spying for the United States. "This accused has been coming and going to certain government circles under the cover of reporter and without a permit," Judge Sohrab Heydarifard told state television Thursday. "She has perpetrated actions to compile and gather information and documents and transferred them to American intelligence services."

Saberi's parents, Reza and Akiko Saberi, met with their daughter in prison yesterday, wire services reported. They have traveled to Tehran from their home in Fargo, N.D.

"We met Roxana today for a few minutes and she is doing well," Reza Saberi told Agence France-Presse. "We are waiting for the judge to make a decision. [The verdict] should come out in a week. There is always hope. But we don't know what will happen."

At least you are going to get a verdict!!!

Imagine if she was in Gitmo or a secret site!

"Tehran waiting for US policy change" by Reuters | April 7, 2009

ASTANA, Kazakhstan - President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran yesterday welcomed overtures by President Obama, but said Tehran is waiting for concrete steps to back up his words.

In a turnaround in US diplomacy, Obama has said he wants better ties with the Islamic Republic and offered a new start in relations after decades of mistrust. Iran has so far given a cautious response to Obama's overtures.

Speaking in Kazakhstan during an official visit, Ahmadinejad said he welcomed "change and reform" but made it clear Tehran expects Washington to make the next move....

The WHOLE WORLD DOES!! Waiting to see how far the tether line from Israel stretches.

The United States cut off ties with Tehran during the 1979-1981 crisis in which militant Iranian students held dozens of US diplomats hostage at the US Embassy for 444 days. It has accused Iran of trying to develop nuclear weapons and suspects Iran uses its civilian nuclear program as a cover. Tehran says it is developing only peaceful nuclear energy.

I love sanitized propaganda, don't you?

While reaching out to Iran, Obama's administration has also warned of tougher sanctions if Iran continues to defy UN demands to halt its sensitive nuclear work.

It's called a KABUKI DANCE, folks, this "peace" talk from 'bamer!!!
