Just wondering why I had to read about THIS in my LOCAL, Globe!
"Taxpayers to pay up to $300K in Cahill lawsuit" by Nancy Reardon, GateHouse News Service | Apr 03, 2009
State Treasurer Timothy Cahill and the state Lottery’s top executive will be using up to $300,000 in taxpayer money for their legal defense in a suit filed by a company that makes gaming software. The State Lottery Commission approved the funding Thursday to pay attorneys from two Boston law firms to represent Cahill and Mark Cavanaugh, executive director of the Massachusetts Lottery.
The money will come out of the state Lottery’s administrative budget, Cahill spokeswoman Francy Ronayne said. In December, Bingo Innovative Software, a Rhode Island company, filed a lawsuit for more than $20 million against Cahill and Cavanaugh. It named the defendants as individuals, not as state officials, and alleged they engaged in a “civil conspiracy” to steer business to another company, Scientific Games....

Nope, instead the Globe goes with this PROMO PIECE of PROPAGANDA!:
"Lottery will sell ads on its tickets
Lottery officials constantly tinker with their offerings and odds to try to attract players and haul in more money for the state. Now they will have a new way to bring in cash, by selling ads on game tickets and monitors.
Yup, always looking for ways to screw you, Bay Stater!
The Massachusetts State Lottery Commission approved a contract yesterday that will pay the Fenway Sports Group $10,000 a month plus a percentage of whatever advertising revenue the sports-marketing spin-off of the Red Sox is able to attract for the lottery.
So MORE STATE DOLLARS going to a GOING CONCERN that is SWIMMING in $$$$!!!
Of course, the pro-gambling GLOBE and PARENT TIMES OWNING the RED SOX has NOTHING to do with the GARBAGE COVERAGE I HAVE BEEN DOCUMENTING HERE the LAST SIX MONTHS!!!!

Treasurer Timothy P. Cahill said he thought Fenway Sports Group would be more likely to attract advertising for Keno screens between games than for scratch tickets. "I don't imagine there's a whole lot of space on instant tickets for advertising, but it would be an option if we could come up with something," Cahill said.
I've been to Keno parlors; has the same scummy ambience as the casinos.
He added that this is a good way "to increase revenues without putting billboards on the MBTA right-of-way or anything like that."
Look at the looter and robber at the Treasury take a shot at the Totalitarian T!!!
Worry about your OWN STENCH, shitbag!!!
Pffft!
The Legislature authorized the Lottery Commission to seek proposals from advertising solicitors last year, and only Fenway Sports Group responded. The contract begins May 1 and lasts for one year, if the Legislature agrees to approve the funding for the fiscal year that starts July 1, covering the final 10 months of the contract.
What, NO ONE WANT TO ADVERTISE on the STATE'S LOOT-the-POOR OPERATION except the baseball team?? Why not, that's what they do when you go to the park (as if I could afford such an extravagence).
The contract limits Fenway Sports Group's commissions to $360,000 for the year. Lottery officials said they did not know which potential advertisers the firm is trying to sign up.
