We have TRILLIONS for the WAR LOOTERS but can't even give the troops a DAY?!!!
Christ, they have EARNED a LOT MORE than THAT!!!!!
"Budget crunch curtails a cherished tradition; Brockton cancels Memorial Day parade" by Peter Schworm, Globe Staff | May 20, 2009
BROCKTON - Facing a budget shortfall, a city veterans group that sponsors the parade has canceled the event, sparking anger and finger-pointing among veterans and local officials. The controversy, surfacing less than a week before Monday's holiday, stunned residents who cherished the annual procession, which in wartime has taken on deeper poignance....

Memorial Day parades have lost some of their luster in recent years, becoming smaller and more subdued.
WTF? We are AT WAR!!!
The Amurkn people JUST DON'T CARE about the LIES -- or their dead, huh?
Then f*** 'em!!!!!!
The ranks of the World War II generation are dwindling, and many families take advantage of the three-day weekend, the symbolic start of summer, to leave town....
And why do you have the day of, s***ter?
"When I was a young man, it was an all-day affair, lots of pomp and circumstance," said Paul Pasquarosa, 57, who helped drum up support and publicity for this year's Newton parade. "But all the people who really care are dying off. Unless the sons and daughters keep it alive, it's going away, dying a slow death. It's a sad thing."
I wish the WARS would DIE a QUICK DEATH!! That would be a HAPPY THING!!
In any event, we should COME HOME NOW!!!!!
Still, nearly every community in the state holds some type of service to mark the occasion, and veterans agents and other workers spend hours planting American flags on the graves of those who served in the military. Even with sharp budget cuts, parades remain a time-honored tradition....
That's what makes me squeamish about the whole thing: unquestioning fealty to tradition.
Kenneth Galligan: "This is the fabric of the community."
Why must the MILITARY be our FABRIC, 'eh?
