How Massachusetts Solves Its Budget Problems

I never take the pike; New Hampshire is only miles away.

"Mass. Pike drivers see increase in tickets

An antitoll activist is criticizing a sharp increase in the number of speeding tickets being handed out by state troopers along the Massachusetts Turnpike. The Boston Herald reported yesterday that the number of speeding tickets given on the 138-mile highway in the first three months of 2009 has risen by 844 compared with the same period last year.

The Herald reported it, 'eh, Globe?

I think I'm buying the wrong paper. How much does a Herald cost?

It's also up 23 percent from 2007. Activist Mike Kelleher said Pike drivers facing toll increases are getting hit twice. A Turnpike Authority spokesman said the ticket increase is the result of a safety campaign. So far this year, there have been no deaths on the turnpike, compared with three last year (AP)."

I'd rather take my chances, thank you!

Oh, right, I don't drive the Pike -- and will always seek to avoid it.
