Slow Saturday Special: Did Someone Say Siege?

And a call to end it? Israel won't listen.

"G-8 tells Israel to halt settlements in Gaza" by Nicole Winfield, Associated Press | June 27, 2009

TRIESTE, Italy - A broad international coalition urged Israel yesterday to freeze all settlement activity in the West Bank and lift its blockade of the Gaza Strip, backing President Obama’s Mideast policy.

The Quartet of Mideast negotiators and foreign ministers of the Group of Eight industrialized nations took advantage of what the UN chief said was a “historic’’ opportunity with the new Obama administration in issuing nearly identical calls for the resumption of direct peace talks, an end to violence, and economic reconstruction for war-battered Gaza.

“We are now trying very hard to seize the very favorably created political atmosphere,’’ of Obama’s election to push the peace process forward, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon told a news conference. Israel has rejected demands that it halt all settlement building....

However both the G-8 and the Quartet - the United States, Russia, European Union, and United Nations - urged Israel to freeze all settlement activity.... It was the first Quartet meeting since Obama came to office, held on the sidelines of a meeting of the G-8 foreign ministers in this picturesque Adriatic port on Italy’s northeastern coast.

At the G-8 meeting, ministers also said they deplored the postelection violence in Iran and urged the Tehran authorities to ensure the will of the Iranian people is reflected in the electoral outcome.

So the Israel crap was just hot fart mist as the REAL AGENDA was advanced, huh?

The G-8 and Quartet called for an immediate and “sustained reopening’’ of Gaza’s crossing points to ensure a regular flow of people, as well as humanitarian and commercial goods into the isolated territory.

See: HOPE Comes to Gaza

While recognizing Israel’s “legitimate security concerns,’’ the Quartet said enabling movement of and access for Palestinians was “critical.’’ Gaza’s borders were closed by Israel and Egypt after the takeover two years ago of the territory by Hamas, considered a terrorist organization by the West.

Nothing about WINNING ELECTIONS????

Hamas has repeatedly fired rockets from Gaza on Israeli border towns, setting off a three-week war by Israel on Gaza’s Hamas leaders in the winter.

Nothing about ISRAEL'S CONSTANT VIOLATIONS as well as the JANUARY SLAUGHTER, 'eh?

Israel has allowed some humanitarian aid and food supplies into Gaza, but the reconstruction of Gaza’s war damage, including thousands of damaged or destroyed homes, is on hold because Israel will not allow in cement or other building materials.

I'm sick of the one-sided bias in favor of the Israeli monsters.

The call of both the Quartet and the G-8 for a settlement freeze signaled broad international support for Obama’s Mideast policy.

"Migrants boost Jewish settlers; Statistics counter Israeli argument" by Amy Teibel, Associated Press | June 25, 2009

MAALEH ADUMIM, West Bank - Israelis moving to the West Bank accounted for more than one-third of settler population growth in recent years, government statistics show, undercutting Israel’s argument that it is continuing settlement construction only to accommodate growing families already living there.

The Israelis lied? Imagine my utter (lack of) shock.

The “natural growth’’ rationale for building on land the Palestinians claim for a state has vaulted Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu into an unusually vocal and public clash with the Obama administration, which has come out strong against continued settlement expansion.

Settlement construction had been expected to be the focus of a meeting in Paris today between Netanyahu and America’s top Mideast envoy, George Mitchell. But the meeting was postponed, and an Israeli official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Israel sought more time to iron out differences with the US administration, including those over settlements.

Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak would instead meet with Mitchell next week.

Opponents say the government invokes “natural growth’’ as a cover to build thousands of houses across the West Bank. “The Israelis are playing a game of deception by what they call natural growth,’’ said Yasser Abed Rabbo, an aide to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

Mossad motto: By deception, thou shalt make war.

Data from Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics supports that argument, showing that in 2007, 36 percent of all new settlers had moved from Israel or abroad. More recent data is not yet available, but there are few reasons to think Israel has reversed the trend, said Hagit Ofran, a settlement specialist for Peace Now, a settlement watchdog group.

Amid the influx of people drawn to cheaper housing in settlements, construction has continued - more than 5,500 new apartments have been completed over the past three years in the West Bank, bureau figures show.

Tells you who really runs the U.N and world right there.

"Netanyahu sees plan to demilitarize state gaining" by Steve Weizman, Associated Press | June 25, 2009

What (ha-ha)? I had the same reaction as this guy.

PARIS - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, after meeting the leaders of France and Italy yesterday, said his bid for a demilitarized Palestinian state is gaining international ground and is the only solution for Mideast peace.

How you gonna get a state out of this?

Israel's Slow-Motion Genocide in Occupied Palestine

Here is your solution: Memory Hole: Future Vision of Israel

After meeting in Paris with French President Nicolas Sarkozy, Netanyahu told reporters: “The idea of a demilitarized [Palestinian] state will in course become accepted. If it is not accepted, there will not be an agreement. It cannot be that there is a Palestinian state and the struggle will continue within it.’’

They SURE are an ARROGANT LOT, 'eh?

Sarkozy agreed that a “future Palestinian state cannot in any way constitute a threat to the security of Israel.’’

How about ISRAEL constituting a THREAT to PALESTINIANS?!!!

Of course, everyone knows Sarkozy is a Zionist tool.

The issue of Jewish settlements emerged as a thorn in Israel’s discussions with the United States and France. Sarkozy stood firm in yesterday’s talks, urging Netanyahu to immediately order “a total freeze of settlement activity,’’ according to a statement from the French president’s office. Sarkozy, who calls himself a friend of Israel but whose country has traditionally good relations with the Arab world, urged faster action toward creating a Palestinian state.

Unless Israel is giving back HUGE SWATHS of LAND, I don't see it.

"Under US pressure, Israel relaxes control of West Bank towns" by Aron Heller, Associated Press | June 26, 2009

So when they pulling out?

JERUSALEM - Bowing to pressure from Washington, Israel granted US-trained Palestinian security forces greater autonomy in four main West Bank towns, Israeli and Palestinian defense officials said yesterday.

Again, telling you WHO REALLY CALLS the shots and WHO is ON TOP in the relationship.

The ability of Palestinian security forces to maintain law and order is key to Mideast peacemaking because Israel needs to be convinced that a future Palestinian state won’t threaten its security.

Of course, Israel can threaten, bomb, and kill and that doesn't enter into the equation. It is ALWAYS about the lying, looting, land-stealing joo, and that is why they are despised!

Israel already has turned over limited security control to Palestinians in three other West Bank towns, but the military said that forces in Qalqiliya, Bethlehem, Jericho, and Ramallah would be the first to operate around the clock without Israeli clearance.

In a statement, the Israeli military said Palestinian security forces “will be able to extend their hours of operation’’ in the towns but emphasized that Israeli forces would continue to operate in the West Bank “in order to thwart terrorist operations.’’

So this is really a NOTHING ARTICLE -- although we are made to believe it is some generous gesture by Iz-ray-HELL!

The move stops short of a full withdrawal from these towns. The Israeli military doesn’t routinely patrol West Bank towns and cities, but frequently conducts nighttime and occasional daytime arrest raids....

Which we RARELY -- if ever -- HEAR ABOUT in our Zionist AmeriKan War Daily!

The United States has been training thousands of forces in the West Bank in preparation for future Palestinian statehood. United States officials involved in the training have been pressing Israel to allow the Palestinian forces more freedom.

And they said no! I'd cut off the money, but....

The European Union has contributed about $55 million for equipment and training, said Jose Vericat, an EU official. Mashaal yesterday praised what he described as “Obama’s new language toward Hamas. It is the first step in the right direction toward a dialogue without conditions, and we welcome this,’’ he said.

How come no first name for the Palestinian?

However, he said the United States must respect the Palestinians’ democratic choice; Hamas overwhelmingly won Palestinian Parliament elections in 2006.

WHY that is LEFT OUT of MOST ARTICLES is BEYOND ME!!!!

The Hamas chief in exile also said Obama remains too sympathetic toward Israel, despite the president’s pledge to work hard for the establishment of a Palestinian state.

“Obama spoke widely about the suffering of Jews and their Holocaust in Europe but ignored the talk about our suffering and Israel’s Holocaust that has been going on for decades against our people,’’ he said.

Mashaal also denounced Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who said in a recent speech that Israel would retain sovereignty over all of Jerusalem, keep building in Jewish settlements, and demand Palestinians recognize Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state.

He deserves denouncing.
