African Sunday From A to Z

When was the last time you heard about....

"Lightning kills 5 schoolchildren in Cameroon" by Associated Press | September 17, 2009

YAOUNDE, Cameroon - Mountainous northwestern Cameroon has been deluged with floods and landslides in recent months with at least six people having been killed in the region.

That's been it from the Boston Globe. If I didn't know any better, I'd think the Zionist paper was racist do to its ignorance of Africa in its pages.

CHICAGO - An antibiotic widely used in Africa to treat eyesight-robbing infections seems to help prevent Ethiopian children from dying of other diseases.

A study in today’s Journal of the American Medical Association suggests an unintended benefit from efforts to wipe out trachoma, the world’s leading preventable cause of blindness.

The World Health Organization has set 2020 as the target for eliminating trachoma. The United States has been free of the disease since the 1970s, but it persists in 48 countries. In Ethiopia, a hotbed, 40 percent of children under 10 show signs of active trachoma.

I don't trust them, but let's see accept the fact that they are trying to help for now.

“Trachoma is almost part of the definition of poverty,’’ said study coauthor Paul Emerson of Atlanta’s Carter Center. “Its victims are forgotten and without political voice, which is why this finding is so tremendously exciting.’’

The researchers compared villages where children received the antibiotic Zithromax to villages where treatment was delayed a year....

Wait a minute: they EXPERIMENTED on VILLAGERS by DENYING THEM TREATMENT? But they are here to help, huh?

Trachoma is caused by bacteria that spreads to the eyes from fingers, clothing or, some researchers think, from flies. Blindness develops over decades through repeated infections and scarring....

Oh, that is POVERTY!!! Oh!!!!

Yeah, never mind those
Ethiopian war crimes when their is pharmaceutical profit to be made off poverty! No wonder there is so much of it and the problem is never solved!

"Africa’s court systems grapple with HIV-related discrimination" by Karin Brulliard, Washington Post | September 13, 2009

LIVINGSTONE, Zambia - As African countries struggle to control the deadly AIDS epidemic, they are also grappling with debates over what rights and duties to give those living with the disease - a growing segment of the population that remains largely hidden.

Across the continent, lawmakers are considering whether to make criminals of those who infect others with HIV, allow bosses to test workers for the virus, punish women who pass it to their babies, and give constitutional protections to those with HIV.

Such questions are increasingly landing in courtrooms, presenting judges with cases that mix current science, individual rights, and a devastating public health crisis....

Similar questions are raised worldwide, but nowhere do they carry more weight than in a region where as many as 1 in 5 adults has HIV, and in an era in which antiretroviral drugs are keeping more people alive....

Did you just hear a cha-ching?

"Greenpeace offers new evidence in Africa deaths" by Toby Sterling, Associated Press | September 18, 2009

AMSTERDAM - Greenpeace said yesterday that it has uncovered new evidence linking a major oil trading company to toxic waste that killed 15 people in Ivory Coast in 2006, and asked Dutch prosecutors to reconsider charging executives with illegal dumping.

Depends on who is dumping, huh?

The environmental group said it had obtained internal e-mails and other documents that show Trafigura Beheer BV executives were aware the sludge that the ship Probo Koala brought to Ivory Coast was hazardous.

The sludge was dumped in several places in Abidjan by a local subcontractor, and was blamed in the deaths of 15 people and the sickening of 100,000 more.

Trafigura’s managers “knew they were violating the rules by exporting toxic waste from Europe, and it was deliberately taken to Africa to dispose of there because it was cheaper,’’ said Andre van der Vlugt, Greenpeace spokesman.

Looks like they took Larry's advice, huh?

"On December 12, 1991, while serving as chief economist for the World Bank, Summers authored a private memo arguing that the bank should actively encourage the dumping of toxic waste in developing countries, particularly "under populated countries in Africa," which Summers described as "UNDER-polluted."

Van der Vlugt declined to say how his organization obtained the documents or verified their authenticity. They have been published on the website of the Guardian newspaper. Trafigura, which is registered in the Netherlands, did not deny the authenticity of the e-mails, but said they don’t show the company did anything wrong.

Then you won't mind drinking a glass of sludge, right?

“It is important to place the internal Trafigura staff e-mails published in the UK press in their proper context,’’ the company said in an e-mailed response to questions. “A number of the e-mails display what is simply ‘trader talk.’ The suggestions apparently contained in some of these e-mails were never seriously considered.’’

That the best lie you guys can come up with?

And what country are we talking about here?

“This is part of a pattern we’re seeing around the world, that national jurisdictions are incapable of dealing with grand corruption cases that go to the heart of the political establishment,’’ said Helen Garlick, who was head of the overseas corruption unit in Britain’s Serious Fraud Office until last year.

Gotta be AmeriKa!

“We need to think of ways of taking these cases outside national jurisdictions.’’

No, we need to DO OUR CONSTITUTIONAL DUTY and PROSECUTE the SOBs!!!

We do not need more globalists who are going to pick on the African tin-pots they backed and poor whites like Serbia that don't go along with the program.

So which country is it?

And finally:

"EU retains sanctions targeting Mugabe"

So the cholera crisis you never hear about will continue to get worse.

And this was the LAST TIME I read ANYTHING or SAW ANYTHING in the Globe about Zimbabwe before then (and I LOOK, readers, so IF IT WERE THERE I WOULD have FOUND IT!):

"Zimbabwe"

Hmmmmmmm!!!!!! (Blog editor grinds teeth)

Memory Hole:

Zimbabwe: Coup or Cholera?

And remember, readers, follow my follow my links (clap, clap), follow my links (clap, clap), follow my links (clap, clap), follow my links (clap, clap), follow my links (clap)!

The FACT that the RACIST, AGENDA-PUSHING ZIONIST PRESS is IGNORING the CHOLERA EPIDEMIC says MORE than I could ever type. I'm left to conclude ONE of THREE THINGS!

Seeing as Mugabe stayed entrenched in power, the agenda-pushing to remove him has abated while the covert ops continue; he's thrown back in with the West and is helping run weapons into the region again, thus the press dogs have been called off; and both of the above reasons true -- still seeking to remove while using.
